Louisiana has been under Democratic rule for over 40 years. It's clear that democrats have failed miserably in Louisiana.
Clinton actually said yesterday that Katrina was a good thing because it showed people that they need the government. This is indicative of how the left thinks. Make people dependent on government hand outs and get their votes. Interesting how that works.

Someone buy Edwards a plane ticket to Germany. They'll need his brilliance.

Edwards said he'll be back often and that his theme won't change. Thanks for the warning.

Hey Harkin....we're still waiting for an apology for your crass, political, demeaning remarks about the president re: Memos that were bogus.
We are also waiting for an apology and an admittance you "lied" about being a pilot in Vietnam.

I have mixed feelings about the original W.P.A. I know it was part of Roosevelts socialists programs but my father worked for the W.P.A. building levees. He said it was hard work but he was thankful to have any kind of job. He always told me that he would have starved without that job.

I had a teacher who lived through the great depression. He said that the shovel-leaners on WPA jobs led people to say that WPA meant, "We Play Around".

Typical of the left. Their solutions are always to repeat the past and emulate failure. They never solve any problems (except for having budgetary surpluses).

It is sad that the dems greatest inspiration still comes from probably the darkest economic days in our nations history.
The best way to rebuild NO is to give tax breaks to businesses that hire the poor locals to do the work.

"That's insane," he said. "What these people need is a decent wage. It's the reason so many of them are living in poverty to begin with."
No, John, the reason these people are living in poverty is because they have been born to parents, grandparents and even great grandparents who were trapped into a like of depency by big government handout programs YOUR party devised.
Each successive generation is less able to fend for itself, each is more poorly educated and each generation is less likely to be productive in society and more likely to bear multiple children who will in turn be additional burdens on society.
That is what YOUR party has done, John. Admit it and admit that there are two solutions 1) END all these progams cold turkey or 2) require sterilzation of everyone who wants to ride on the handout bus.

I agree.
But let's start the jobs program slow, and fund it only with income tax revenue brought in from wealthy trial lawyers.
And maybe we could even do a retroactive tax (since Clinton did).
Maybe this would only pay for several thousand jobs, but hey, its a start.
To: lunarbicep
put the poor people to work: not a bad idea but I doubt that the unions will let it happen and why would someone go to work if you'll pay 'em not to?
the left once again makes the stupid mistake of believing that people need their help and that the people can't make it without them so of course the people will stand there waiting for the handouts laughing the entire time
notice that Edwards implies that these people don't have money and don't have jobs and don't have bank accounts b/c of something that we as a society did or didn't do....he never once mentions that personal responsibility has to come into play.

"We ought to have a new WPA like was used during the depression to create jobs, and we ought to bring those folks who have been displaced back into New Orleans to rebuild their city," Edwards said. "Give them a decent wage and decent benefits. That's the way to help rebuild New Orleans they way it should be built. ROTFLMAO!!!! First we have all the clowns from LA wringing their hands, then Sideshow Bill stands up his hind legs, braying at the moon, now here's the Breck Boy.
Hey Johnny boy, I'll tell you the real reason you all are desperate to ship the people back to NO. That reason is to keep these incompetent idiots in office! You and your ilk cannot afford to have these folks rub elbows with moderate, productive, good hearted people. God forbid that they learn that they can have a productive life with just a hand up from their fellow American brothers and sisters!
No wonder they're all running around like lunatics, spouting nonsense....they're scared to death!!! This makes me happy : )

What an incredible ass. The man is not only a demagogue and a fraud, he's also a nobody. The senate wasn't good enough for him, although his record in the senate was totally pathetic. Why the press pays any attention to him anymore is beyond me, but if he has a chance in hell of getting the Democrat nomination in '08, that's just fine with me.

Didn't Bush agree with this recently? He wants a "New Deal" for the south.
Oh. And it appears that Roberts judicial temperament is much less conservative if you believe what Roberts has been saying during the Senate hearings.
And Bush picked him.
At some point we must call Bush a RINO.
