If you'd consider sacrificing your life to save an animal's life that is your choice. There is no nobility in such a sacrifice, only stupidity, IMHO.
And how dost thou become the arbiter of what is noble and what is "stupid"?
I don't know much about you, but of one thing I'm sure. I have seen many posts by "tough guys" like you and each time I am repelled by their coarseness and insensitivity. But I suppose that just being you is sufficient punishment.
I have watched several beloved people in my family die, I was by their side when they were dying. My heart has broken many times for them and at night as my heart palpitates so irregularly I cannot go to sleep, a soft featherlight being slides down by my chest each night and her purrs pull my heartbeats into a regular pace with her purrs. No other pet has ever done this for me. During one winter when my beloved father lay in the IC unit dying my friend took my cats to a kennel and she broke away from him in the parking lot. By the time I traveled back 3 days after the funeral and put up reward posters she was nowhere. I hurriedly joined a grief therapy for the loss of my dad I was afraid I would have a heart attack from the sorrow. Imagine with all that sorrow, to hear a small meow at my door 6 weeks later, my angel father had found her and brought her back to me as a sign to keep my heart from breaking. She was skin and bones but she made it back to me in the middle of a freezing cold bleak January. The veterinarian said there was no hope of her return. There is always hope.
Nevertheless, we'll just have to say that we disagree and leave at that. IMHO.
Adios.
