I voted for Bush both times and I've supported him throughout his presidency, but I just think there has been a HUGE breakdown of leadership in this whole ordeal from the president all the way down to the mayor. IMO, this is one of the FEW times big government should have been sitting on the ready. The Nat. Guard or military should have been ready to be sent in on Monday as soon as the storm had moved through. Sandbags and whatever were necessary to fortify the levees should have been prepared and sitting READY nearby for easy retrieval. The federal gov't should have funds allocated BEFORE the storm to spend evacuating those who are poor and had not other means of getting out. What is the cost of trains, planes and busses in comparison to what it happening now?! I wish all the innocent people who wanted to get out were out and all the lawless thugs were the only ones left there. Bush should have ended his vacation IMMEDIATELY and should have addressed the nation immediately. Instead of promising to throw wads of money at the problem (and we all know it will never be spent on those who truly need it), when he gave his speech he should have laid out a specific plan of what is going on, when help will arrive, etc. I don't understand why TONS of supplies weren't immediately dropped in places where they are needed. How can we be there immediately when disaster strikes in a foreign country but do such a crappy job taking care of our own? I'm so frustrated and disgusted. Thank GOD I don't live there.

I am one of the guilty one's who gave props to CNN for their live coverage. They have round the clock live coverage...something Fox and MSNBC don't have. CNN has been live 24-hours-a-day.

With saying that...they have absolutely taken a turn for the worst today with their liberal agenda just taking over the story.

Disgraceful.

I don't know where to begin.

The governor controls the National Guard. She was on television Monday night saying that "we dodged a bullet." The levees started breaking on Tuesday morning, and Blanco STILL didn't call out the Guard (there was Guard in NO, but they were keeping order at the Superdome, for the 15,000 people that didn't leave because Ray Nagin, mayor, waited until Sunday noon to order mandatory evacuations.

It is the responsibility of the MAYOR and the GOVERNOR to evacuate cities prior to a hurricane. Bush begged Blanco to declare mandatory evacuation on Saturday; in fact, he declared a state of emergency on Saturday, an unprecedented act. Blanco was talking to attorneys trying to cover her butt in case the storm missed NO and she was second-guessed for evacuating the city.

As to Bush laying out a plan, that's the job of the MAYOR and the GOVERNOR, since they're on scene. The MAYOR hauled his ass to Baton Rouge, where he is today.

Can you believe that? His city is in chaos, and he's sipping ice tea in an air-conditioned command center 80 miles away.

FEMA works with the MAYOR and the GOVERNOR. The MAYOR and GOVERNOR are in charge, not FEMA.

As to "being there immediately", it took the US two weeks to get to any of the tsunami countries.

You're entitled to your opinion, and your rant, but you're not entitled to your own facts.

That's ok, YaYa. You can yell all you want as far as I am concerned.
We all know what cnn is, and you were right about them broadcasting live. I found myself checking them out yesterday because of this thread, and your recommendation. I wanted to see WHAT kind of person this Jack Cafferty was.
(Just a minute, I have to get rid of Michael Savage and his rant-he's driving me carzy.)
ok-took my headphones off and muted him.

All these 'reporters' second-guessing W...including Shep!
I DID NOT KNOW that there were people in the Convention center, either!

CNN, as well as many others are trying to blame Bush for everything! I've TiVo'd some cnn late today, and DVD'd FOX from 4:30 on. Didn't do Paula or Larry because I know I can't stand them. But I did catch some of Paula and the FEMA Director...She was AWFUL!

Obviously they are not going to mention the MAYOR or the GOVERNOR!!! They are dimz so they can't be to blame for anything...

As I said in my original rant, I found the leadership lacking from the Pres all the way down to the mayor.

Yes, I know all about the Blanco's hesitation in ordering a mandatory evacuation, which was beyond ridiculous! Looks like there has been a whole lot of "That's not MY job" going on here. Someone should have stepped up to the plate.

The mayor, what a waste of human flesh! Guess what, they will vote for him again, especially if a white person runs against him next time.
