God Bless Homer & Jethro... Believe it or not, I actually have that LP! I used to listen to that song all the time in Illinois when I was about five years old. ;)

Ok, I was 21 hours off. That screws the Mayor of New Orleans even worse.

I completely agree. I don't understand how they can get 70,000+ people into a game in a few short hours, but it's taking all darn day to get +/- 30,000 people in during a catastrophic hurricane.
I haven't seen people going to a game carrying bedding, food, clothing and all kinds of stuff(according to the Chief of Police) to a game. All these people and their stuff have to be checked individually, takes time. If anything, they should have opened it up earlier just like the evacuation should have started earlier!

Is God mad at New Orleans? It is a city known for Voodoo, partying in the French Quarter/Bourbon Street (and Fat City), as well as strip joints...
Would you be mad at stuff like that, especially partying either on the Sabbath (Jewish day of rest), or partying early into the Lord's Day (the Remembrance of Easter Sunday by Christians -- their day of rest and day for remembering the day when Jesus rose from the Dead).
I don't think that Bourbon Street would fit into a Bible Belt area. Dallas (TX) has parts of the city that are dry from its Bible belt heritage...

"If this turns out to wipe out Old NO, it would be similar in devastation to one of those Arab nukes. Seems like nobody is talking about this storm bringing the country to its knees. Old NO will be rebuilt on higher ground and we can do it without working up a sweat. Same, I think, for an Arab nuke."
Yeah, but with a hurricane there is the chance to evacuate. A nuke (Arab or otherwise) would snuff out 1,000,000+ people in milliseconds.

I just remembered the haunted one: The Myrtles.
Has anyone thought about James Carville and his Carville, Louisiana Leprosy refuge? That's close to NO, right?

Dang it has been at least 5 hours that you have been griping about Janice Dean...if she offends you so much, why haven't you changed that channel? huh?
I am sick of your complaining about her---and all of the other people on Fox. There are two other cable channels, go visit them for a while, please!

I wonder if Janice Dean has family that refused to leave or she is romantically involved with somebody reporting or working in the storm area. I know what people say about him - but Shep Smith is there. She was dong really well up until he started reporting from the French Quarter. Also she did comment about living near there for soem time.

that sounds about right. 6 or 7 miles to the west of NO is not going to be enough I don't think. but steve lyons was just on TWC, its still got a westerly component to it, slicing towards that 90.0 line of longitude.

Glad you shared your replendent memories. You never mentioned once a simple bowl of red beans and rice.
Spare me your wistful sophistry of those memories clad in crystal.

FYI we're not supposed to post that nonsense.. BUT, I don't mean to offend you.
You're right, of course... and no offense taken. Just a little overwhelmed by the magnitude of this immense disaster.
