I really am getting old. I actually read series as serious, I've read the gag so many times...

Remember Gorelick was the DoD's General Counsel before she went to DOJ and completed the wall building.

"If I had to guess at the identity of the general, I'd lean toward Merrill McPeak."
I know a couple of former AF generals (MGs) and I can tell you they have a very low regard for McPeak, as do several others who knew him. If he was around the AD story, I'd have to agree.

I'm sure the Clintons lobbied for Gorelick and Ben Veniste. How else could two Clinton lawyers wind up on the Commission?

My Husband worked for Merrill McPeak in the late '70's at RAF Mildenhall in England, he was an ass then . As a former Thunderbird Pilot he thought he was just peachy .

This I know...there is no love lost between the Military and Clinton.
How much do we not know?
This is personal.

"heck, did any one have a high opinion of old merrill?"
If they did, I haven't yet run across them. BTW, where did McPeak stand in the last presidential election (Dubya vs. Kerry)...did he take sides?

Actually she was put on the 9/11 commission so she would not have to testify. Ben Viniste or whatever the punk lawyer is called was put in to keep tabs on what was being given to the commission and helping in defeating anything that may harm the Clinton Administration while giving the democrats a heads up as to what could hurt Bush"Wow...didn't see THAT one coming..." says everyone except FReepers. THIS is what pi**es me off. Who, with half a frickin' brain DIDN'T see the obvious?!
To: varon
Not sure I agree with that. First of all the Bush's have great respect for the Office of the President. Even if they thought that Clinton was the scum of the earth (which he is), they wouldn't be the ones to divulge the goods on him. Secondly, the old adage keep your friends close and your enemies closer seems to fit here.

I mentioned this on another thread. The horrible irony is the Pentagon was also hit that day. I want to hear someone mention that in the media.
excellent point..I want some one to shove a camera and mic into the generals face and ask him about it....

I always thought that the dike parade in the DoJ was under Hillary.

If I had to guess at the identity of the general, I'd lean toward Merrill McPeak. I would be willing to go "all in" that you're right....he's a total a-hole.

He talked about his notes from the briefing of the 9/11 Commission.

Just asked my husband about your thought of Mc Peak being the Gen. to shut LTC Shaffer up, says it sounds like him, But Mc peak was commander in Chief of Pacaf so would have been in Hawaii at that time frame?
