I'd agree on absolutely on the first part.... But breaking young horses is not a job for the old... I can't take the hits I took when I was younger. ;~D

I've not ridden in ages for just that fact. My back is bad enough without finding myself inelegantly deposited back onto Terra Firma by an amused horse ("hey, what'cha doin' down there?"). I do, however, watch hours of horse programs on RFD TV. That Clinton Anderson is an incredibly talented horseman.
I think the saying would be better served to read, "young horses for experienced riders" (c;
LOL, not for a while deep breathing will be very painful with broken ribs.
I don't get that channel here, or any channel that covers much horse training. Wish I did!
There's a lot that the young can just do better, dang them all ;~D
I still ride, but I stick to my 24 year old trusty friend, may he stay strong yet another year for me. I will miss him when he retires, and even more when I have to build up trust in a new horse.
Tell the truth, I don't know. It flipped me from sideways to landing on my back. The only good thing is my head landed in the flower bed. I had removed the railroad tie which had been the border just a week or two before that. If I hadn't removed it, my head and neck would have hit it first. Either I would be a paraplegic or dead. I can't say.
I just found this thread. Did the article state how she came off the horse? That's an awful lot of injuries for a simple fall. Sounds like she got bucked off or she was hotdogging it around, showing off, and the horse came out from under her.
No - we don't know any more about what happened...
Interesting and fun thread. Wished I would have seen it when it was active. School starts next week so I've been extremely busy.
It isn't well known in America, but Roy Kinnear, the British actor who played Mr. Salt (Veruca's dad) in the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, died after being thrown from a horse while filming a movie in the late 1980's.
