You said in your previous post to add a "surcharge" of TWO DOLLARS per gallon of gas.
There is no way to spin that to sound even remotely feasable.
Why not just pass a law? Why not start rationing? Something tells me you'd think those are great ideas.
And nobody's "demanding unlimitied use of a resource which has limited daily worldwide supply". People are just sick of the circumstances that make their REQUEST for fuel overly expensive.
And btw, your little socialist comments like "an average american (who wastes oil as it is)" gives you away as the socialist you are. You haven't been around here long enough to go around slinging your crap at FReepers. Sit back and read for awhile eraser.
Back to the Lilly Tomlin quote;
"No matter how cynical you become, it's never enough to keep up."
You should all check your MPG.
Refiners have an infinite bag of tricks to stretch & fluff up each gallon of gas at will.
So not only are you paying more for gas your getting less of it(in terms of BTU value).
Kinda like when a pound of coffee became 13oz..
Hey amigo, in case you hadn't noticed we're also getting gouged on hospitalization, taxes across the board, food, etc. in addition to this newest plundering by the oil companies and their well kept, very quiet members of Congress and the fedgov. If your brand of capitalism has no problem with some of this BS, then I'll be sure you have reservations at the nearest soup kitchen.......party of four for bread and water?
Evidently you don't believe americans waste any oil. The US uses 23.4 barrels of oil per person per year. In Japan they use 14. In Germany and Italy they use 12. Any person with two neurons to rub together has to admit that there is waste in the US system. That's not crap. That's reality. Welcome to it.
A little touch of relief news from BigCharts.MarketWatch.com owned by Dow Jones.
Be careful of that Lilly Tomlin and her cynicism! Skepticism is ok, but cynicism means one has given up hope!! I ain't Jesse Jackson, fer sure, but for goodness sake... "KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!"
I just filled up at Sam's Club in Folsom for $2.639/g and just a week ago it was 2.409/g!!! (through gritted teeth)
If we're getting gouged, we need government intervention Amigos. Or should I say, commrads.
Wow! That is harsh. We just gave up eating out and have started eating more deer steak (need to do that anyway!)
Wull hey, heyworth! That wuz close enuf fer govermint werk, rite? Don't be so danged picky!!!
>>>If we're getting gouged, we need government intervention Amigos. Or should I say, commrads.>>>
Now THIS is something I can agree with you on Biblewonk.
>>>but when the winter formulation kicks in, my gas mileage drops by about 10%. >>>
You also get better gas mileage because you probably aren't using the car AC.
"Gouged"? If that's the case, it should be relatively easy to open a new hospital and compete on value (price, quality, etc.).
taxes across the board,
Hmm. I fail to see how this relates to my point about capitalism. Oh, well.
food,
You're being gouged on food? Interesting. Again, if anyone feels they're being 'gouged,' food should be by far one of the easier markets in which to compete. For instance, Florida has an idiotic law to prevent any price increases ("gouging") during an emergency. Therefore, the state is doomed to run out of necessities at the time its people need them the most, when demand will surely exceed supply.
etc. in addition to this newest plundering by the oil companies and their well kept, very quiet members of Congress and the fedgov.
Corruption in government is a very different subject. You're kind of all over the map, here.
If your brand of capitalism has no problem with some of this BS, then I'll be sure you have reservations at the nearest soup kitchen.......party of four for bread and water?
Charity is always an option (until the all-benevolent government runs it out of business).
Well where do you draw the line? Is Germany and Italy's use of oil per person okay? If Americans could get down to that level would you be happy with that since Americans would no longer be "wasting oil"? Do you have any idea how much different our economy is versus those countries? I've got two words for you and I don't think you're going to like them:
Nuclear energy.
Citgo or Chevron made 5.6 billion profit last qtr. Exxon I believe made 9 billion profit last qtr.
Like water boils quicker at altitude.
What's a commrad?......oh, do you mean comrade? So, Mr. anti-gov't intervention how much of your life isn't already fedgov regulated? Your church's 501C-3 status.....yes, the regulations for traveling the highways and byways.....yes, the prices you're paying for all the crap food we're importing thanks to the shafta NAFTA.....yes, the tax $ you're spending to support all those Mexican illegals working for all those "capitalists" that like to break federal law and EVADE a whole lot of payroll taxes......yes. Yeah buddy, we're living in a time of real limited gov't aren't we?......that's a joke..... on you of course.
Quote: My reason for enjoying high gas prices has nothing to do with my comment that the desire to have the government intercede is socialism.
I've read your post in the past. So you enjoy the rrest of us paying high gas prices bevcause of some agenda you have. You want everyone to ride bycycles to work, live in planned communities by their work(aka communist style) and to conserve, conserve, conserve which is liberal speak for less freedom.
You are a closet socialist or communist.
Closet? Where do you see a closet?
Planned communities, where do you get that?
Where does he get planned communities?
Evidently you don't pay for hospitalization, go to the store or pay for other necessities......lucky you. And no, I'm not all over the map by mentioning the lack of action by Congress to even address this issue and it's deletorious effects on the economy......it should be obvious, even to you that this is payback time for the legions of oil company lobbyists and the $ they flood into Washington.
