Our conservative movement is no different. There is no doubt that Diane Alden is a member of the lunatic fringe as are the various third-party patsy types who frequent these threads.

As I read the first 6 pages I thought *How did this woman read my mind?* This has been my thinking for some time now and I am glad that someone had the b*lls to finally say it out loud. Only the blind cannot see that the country is on a downhill slide to destruction or at the very least a position in the world as third rate country will no will to resist.

I realize it will do little good but I am sending a copy of this to my representative, who voted for CAFTA and will probably vote for FTAA. Because it is a long article (he, like all politicians) has a very short attention span and will probably consign it to the round file rather than read it.

I remember Ronald Reagan being of the "lunatic fringe" for opposing detente favored by the establishment GOP. James A. Fortunately the voters rejected the lunatic fringe candidate and detente lead to peaceful coexistence with the USSR. Oops, wait, the voters, they elected the "lunatic fringe" candidate, but he started a nuclear war. Oops, no, the RINO's convinced him to sell out the people who voted for him and adopt detente, and there was peace with the Soviet Union. Oh wait, he ignored the GOP establishment, rearmed America and the USSR went into the ash bin of history.

Amtrak has an Autotrain that runs from Washington D.C. suburbs down to the Orlando FL area non-stop. It leaves at ~4pm and gets there in the morning sometime.

He may have been called lunatic fringe by those who feared his candidacy but he most certainly was not a member of the lunatic fringe. The fringe would never get elected governor of California or win the republican primary in 1980. Despite the RINO's, Reagan had enough support among the party to win the primary and become president.

This is a big difference from Pat Buchanan who couldn't get more than 0.005% of the vote in 2000 and wouldn't do any better now.

I vote for individuals, not a political party.
I support principled candidates who pledge to reduce the size of the federal government.

If that happens to be a Republican, then I will vote for him or her.
But I will no longer donate my hard earned money to an "ineffectual party" that after over 5 years of control has still done NOTHING to end the progressive federal income tax system, or curb the growth of the Federal government bureaucracy, among other things.

You are free to do otherwise, if you so choose.

Naw...I think they played the "if you vote for him, you'll split the vote and the Dems will win" card real well as one of their tactics. A lot of people go by the "Anything is better than a Democrat" philosophy and so they'd rather just keep electing moderates and Rockefeller liberal Repubs pretending to be conservatives rather than true conservatives.
