He cleverly fooled you , thats for sure. Drop it already ..It's a dime store novel.Did YOU read it ?
When will Hollywood start pumping out the accurate religious movies instead of the historical revisionism? But it's OK because it's FUN! (sarcasm)
At least Sony knows the true christians are not so gullible anymore. That's why they're tweaking the movie. Mel Gibson did a good thing by throwing an accurate religious bomb which blew a crater in the largely Jewish secular controlled media (and, no, I'm not prejudiced. But secular Jews have disporportionate influence in media circles.)
I agree with you there.
.Did you read the book by the way ..No one has said yes so far..amazing..If you did ,you'd see how harmless it is , unless of course you are one who is looking hard for anti Christian slander under every bush .
I did. The posts in question refer to what others think about it, not really about the book itself. Yes, it is fiction. But, many actually believe it to be historically accurate. I don't know why, but they do.
It's a dime store novel ,nothing else. read it and find out yourself.
I would love to oblige, but I have far too many books in the way as it is. I am on the third book of Patrick O'Brian's 21 novel "Master and Commander" series. Only 18 more to go. And there are many other books staring at me from the shelf I need to find time to read.
secular Jews have disporportionate influence in media circles.)Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Thats true by the way ..but so what ?Thats the way it works. It's America , no one is stopping you from making your own movies either..Gibson did it with great sucess. His film was amazing by the way.
>>Here's one "Passion dollar" they ain't gonna get.<<
Here's another. The Passion was the first movie I paid to see in a theater since 1997. That said, I didn't like it.
ON a side note, my sister and her husband bought Mels Bear Tooth ranch a few months ago. You aughta see the house they're building...
Oh brother , Ok Ill bite..Im soooo impressed .
"I really have to re think being so quick to praise FR and have to question my previous trust of things I read on here. I lost a lot of respect for this site today ."
Dude, not everyone sees it as Galileo-esque heresy.
The vast majority of Christians know that "Chronicles" is an allegory. Armed with that knowledge, they are able to enjoy the story for what it is, greatness.
Because people are pointing out trash, you go to this extreme. Ridiculous.
Bad movies which create bad culture are trashed all the time on FR. This is no different.
"I just don't like or will not promote someone who slanders my faith. --And makes loads of money by doing it, cleverly."
Interestingly, many Jewish folks felt the same about "The Passion".
Well , read the book before you get all up in arms about it .Its a fun , 2 day read tha;s obviously NOT to be taken seriously. If you read it , you'd see my point Im sure. It has almost a comic book quality to it.
No, of course not. Read my post #136.
I'm a practicing committed Roman Catholic. Why would I support someone who wrote something that would mislead a lot of ill informed people.
You have to admit that it has mislead ill informed people. Lots and lots of poeple think it is truth. Whether you think they are stupid or not. They still believe it. That is dangerous to thier souls.
If I misunderstood, then please accept my sincere apologies.
I wasn't really "offended," per say, just a little quick on the draw. :0)
Interestingly, Christians as a whole were not offended by Jews feeling this way. Unlike the Dan Brown-o-philes here. You folks are just plain angry that anyone questions his motives.
And if a group is seen as pulling down morals to an alarming degree, the group can be pulled from power.
That's one service Gibson did. He showed us how the powers that be don't like historical accuracy. Their power needs to be curtailed - and it will thru people speaking out about trash.
More accurate historicity should be going into people's mind, not more of this garbage about Jesus.
"The vast majority of Christians know that "Chronicles" is an allegory. Armed with that knowledge, they are able to enjoy the story for what it is, greatness."
True - just making the point that, if one looks hard enough, they can always find something that offends.
Kind of like Hitler burning books, right? Wow, you're way outta line, that could not be any further from the truth or what I believe. You really have misconstrued my point entirely. My concern remains - that Catholics are buying it and reading it and not laughing it off as fiction, but considering it as revealed secrets. Per Brown's own words. Fiction except for the parts about Catholicism. The danger to the faith of the readers who buy into it is that they are not reading it as they should, as fiction. They should know that. Too many ignore it.
You're sounding like a religious fanatic and all fanatics are narrow minded and ignorant.
And therefore I'm narrow minded and ignorant? If I read it in it's entirety would that satisfy you? I'm finding I'd get quite a laugh out of it.
I don't care one whit about the book. I reallly don't. I was merely defending some who know that other people don't see the book as fiction. Some believe it to be historically factual.
