"Rottweiler's are to dogs as bullsharks are to sharks. Many sharks will bite you, then leave, but the bullshark might just rip you to shreds. It's just in them to do so."
Bad analogy. You cannot domesticate a shark or a lion or a rattlesnake. These dogs have been domesticated for a long, long time. The only exposure most people have with rottweilers is when they read about an attack in the MSM or see their neighborhood thug being being pulled by one. You never read about the dog protecting people from attacks unless you went to the ARA or AKC just like you would have to subsribe to the NRA's magazine to read about gun owner preventing attacks. Spend some time with responsible owners and their dogs....sure they will be biased just as NRA members are biased. Better yet talk to K9 crews in law enforcment and the military and let them tell you about their rottweilers, german shepards and dobermans (and other breeds).
Agree with you..My friend acquired a golden retreiver that had been beaten and abused by his former owner...The dog is a huge baby..Not a mean bone in his body but,he is scared to death of hoses and brooms[The objects he was beaten with]This dog had been abused for 3 years before my friend got him..He is the sweetest dog there is..You beat a rotty or pit bull and I'll bet they are ready to tear the neck off the next owner...
Sorry - I read your post wrong. You are correct about the issue of two females having pups - I mentioned adding from outside the pack.
LOLOLOLOL!!!!
"pit bull-type dogs"
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
BTW, thanks for the spelling correction!
;o)
I'm not arguing with you. You might be correct. There might be more to this story, too.
An average dog will flee, if squirted with cold water from a hose. Best way to break up a fight.
I knew some guys who's dogs started fighting and they kept pouring scalding hot water on them and couldn't understand how come they kept fighting harder.
After I put out the fight with cold water from the hose, I explained why what they were doing was wrong.
You are absolutely wrong that wolves and dogs don't ever attack pups and children of others than the alpha female.
Wolf hybrids are a completely different story and should not exist.
Pretty odd that some act as if Rottweilers roamed the plains in packs before they were "domesticated."
Your post no. 231 - Try telling them that! Their is definite heirarchy as to who gets what. It is just mainly a showing of teeth and snarling but not biting or attacking each other.
Repeat after me:
It is your fault, you did not train them well enough. There is no such thing as a dangerous breed.
It is your fault, you did not train them well enough. There is no such thing as a dangerous breed.
It is your fault, you did not train them well enough. There is no such thing as a dangerous breed.
It is your fault, you did not train... [/SARCASM]
Great tagline, too!
"Well, how come people never make Labs or Goldens mean? "
That is total BS. I grew up with a Lab Retriver mix that was naturally hostile to other dogs and certain people.
Any dog bread can be a problem. Especially those with a tendancy to be loyal.
The problem with Rotties are the idiots who live vicarously through their dogs. It isn't so much "making" them mean, but seeing them as a weapon.
Dogs are hybrids and are
"unstable," especially if the breeder doesn't cull the vicious or nutsy ones.
The Alpha is responsible for feeding the pack. They control the food supply.
They feed the pups first, then the weak and sick, and they will eat last or not at all.
As I explained in post 210 the hierarchy changes often due to the demands of leadership.
You inferred that golden/labs weren't capable of attacking and I proved you wrong, now if you want to "move the goal posts" fine but there are only around 10 or 20 deaths a year I think from dog attacks! helloooo???
more people die from guns, cars and even from drowning in the swimming pools????
I guess you'll want to ban cars, guns and even swimming pools next! LMAO
I pay a fortune for my four Rotties, but nothing for my Great Pyrrenes who could kill all four at once if he was so inclined.
Of course, he's not, he's even cuddlier and cuter than they are.
