"Bush Weakened Title IX Rules. The Bush Administration's Education Department quietly issued a new clarification of the regulations interpreting Title IX. The new rules allow colleges to demonstrate that they are satisfying the demand for women's sports with an online survey showing that female students have no unmet sports interests. Even if the non-response rate is high in the survey, non-response is to be interpreted as a lack of interest according to the Education Department. (New York Times, 3/23/05)"

THIS IS A GOOD THING!!!!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE DEMOCRATS??? (oh I have to ask)

They are so mindlessly fetishists for equality that they demand equality even when men and women clearly have differing interests and desires. Even to the point where men's sports have to be destroyed for fear of 'too many' men in sports vs women.

NCAA President Says Rules Could "Reverse the Progress Made Over the Last Three Decades." "NCAA President Myles Brand joined in condemning the guidelines, saying they could 'reverse the progress made over the last three decades.' He added his disappointment that officials issued the clarification 'without benefit of public discussion and input.'" (Los Angeles Times, 3/23/05)

I'm sorry Democrats but when did parents give up the role of assuring the health and fitness of their children? How is it that government, with it's capitol far, far from home has so much more responsibility for our children than their own parents within the four walls of their very own home?

Your dying philosophy of radical state paternalism is digging it's grave.

Actually, Bush is a fatso by the all-seeing, all-knowing Federal Government's myopic standards. You can do the calculation here:

Does the government think you're fat?

It doesn't take into acount even a slightly above average level of muscularity. I'm "obese" at 6'0 253lbs with a 425lb bench press. I guess the bureaucrats want everybody to be stickboys just like them.

Bring back recess and make sure Dodge Ball is included ... even the big kids will move when a ball is coming at their shoulders!

His personal habits indicate that physical fitness is not just fun and games for him. Don't our kids deserve the same opportunities to be physically fit?

GEEZ...how much money does it take to put sneakers on kids and take them outside to jog??? Yep its all about MONEY.

...putting children at risk with cuts in physical education and school athletic programs.

Ah, yes. The children are such "victims" because of the dreaded program cuts.

Maybe if parents and schools taught kids discipline and personal responsibility, and gave them some goal oriented direction...

Nah, equality of outcomes could not be guaranteed, and besides, someone might be offended.

This assumes that the only opportunity children have to get any exercise is during school hours

It also assumes that more money means more and better programs. That's not always the case.

That's right! There is no way a kid can be physically fit unless he takes a class in it. Kids have to be taught how to run. /s

Reading things like this remind me of why I despise Demonrats.
They have this mindless hate inside of them.
They find a way to spew their hate no matter how stupid they sound.
Let's dissect this.
Our president takes charge of his own health and well being and thus is less likely to need the nanny state. The Dems see this in a negative light.
It's so obvious why they hate him. If everyone took more personal responsibility, we would need less govt.

This is the best democrat can do?

Use good health as a negative?

How the "mighty" have fallen.

The ONLY claim that democrats have is that they support "gay marriage" and oppose GWBush.

They have nothing, if I was a rank and file democrat I would be EMBARRASSED to have a D on my voter registration card.

Bush has proven that you don't need government spending or a bureaucracy to get and stay in shape.

>>"Bush's education policy is putting children at risk with cuts in physical education and school athletic programs."

Lalala, let's forget about all the accountability put into the school, who are now responsible for standardized tests and providing skilled teachers in every classroom. Imagine that.

Every kid still has to go through phys ed. Or through health classes. One makes you work out, the other tells you to. Wake up MSM.
