These prosecutions of Fallaci are criminal in themselves. The Left often whines about the loss of freedom, but these so-called "hate" statutes are causing us all to lose our freedom of speech. This is one aspect of the game the Left always plays - free speech is for me (the Left) and not for you. Say something critical of Islam and you will be branded a "hater". It's ironic that I can walk into any bookstore in this country and pick up a copy of "Mein Kampf", or the latest hateful screed from, say, Michael Moore. But an important mind like Fallaci gets trashed by our self-appointed guardians of the public good.
Ping for an interesting article. An Italian of like-mind, writing against terrorism.
Thank you for the post.
WOW!!! I just read it all. Orianna is too hot to handle!!
Could you post a link to the original Italian articles? Thanks
True everwhere.
Liberalism requires a dictatorship to survive. Freedom of thought and speech brings liberals and socialists down.
bump.
Just another Bush basher who doesn't believe him when he calls Islam a "Religion of Peace". /s
Probably doesn't find the hand holding charming either.
BUMP

From the Italian blog Eddyburg (via Romanwanderer) comes the latest column by Oriana Fallaci. Published exactly one week ago today in Corriere Della Sera, it is entitled, "Il nemico che trattiamo da amico" ("The Enemy We Treat As A Friend").
Have you heard anything on her trial? I haven't heard a peep.
If only I could read Italian. Is there an English version of this blog?
Anyone who hasn't yet read "The Rage and the Pride" should certainly do so, as well as this latest column. Fallaci is a strong voice of truth.
It puzzles me why we are so concerned about Gitmo inmates being allowed Korans and encouraged to 'pray' 5 times a day?
It is 'the' fountain for them that sustains their hatred and commitment to kill and jihad against the civilized world. Of which they do not want too be part of.
The Gitmo inmates should receive 'sensitivity' training instead. Now we are in phase three of Ann Coulter's response to 9/11. First invade their country, 'kill' their leaders, now convert them to 'Christianity' or any thing not fanatic Islam.
I don't think she's going to be with us much longer, more's the pity. "Pious atheist?" Not so you'd notice. Stubborn skeptic, yes...
Big bump!!
Unless the west wakes up and wises up and soon, it will be all over with us.
Islam and western civlization, at least the Islam practised by the overwhelming number of Muslims, are totally incompatible.
The author of this brillant piece is right on.
Everybody is ignoring the Elephant in the Living Room. No number of random checks, no number of border precautions, no amount of harassment of non-Muslims will prevent another Madrid, another London, another 9-11.
The only thing which will succeed is to expell all Muslims who are not citizens, to prevent visitation of Muslim tourists, business people, etc to the west, to shut down and demolish all Mosques and Madrassehs which preach violence, anti-Semitism and hatred of non-Muslims, to incarcerate or execute all Muslims who are involved in terrorist attacks, and to, in effect, treat Islam in the west as Islam treats non-Muslims in Islamiuc Countries - as a hated and suspected pariah whose presence and spread is to be discouraged and prevented by any means possible.
If we don't do this, more bombings will occur, more killings of innocent bystanders like that guy from Brazil, larger influxes of these hateful people with their hateful and alien behaviors, social practises and religious beliefs.
We are under attack and at war, and our leaders continue to ignore - the Elephant in the Living Room.
