The Palace of Science and Culture. Only a commie would name a building something like that.

Guess that is why they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Socialist realism art is interesting to me because of it's complete absurdity and it's place in history. I collect old Soviet doodads that have it on there, medals, tea glass holders, postcards, etc.
Warsaw might consider keeping the building as a reminder of what NOT to let happen in the future. That's how I look at my collection - a reminder of how stupid people can be and how freedom must be guarded lest we end up like the hammer-carrying drones on my collection.

I bet Stalin stole the idea from Milwaukee. Absolutely looks like Milwaukee's City Hall. But instead of muscle-bound workers decorating the facade, Milwaukee's building has pigeons and smells of perch.

And what a curious similarity in Communist architecture with another landmark...in our very own New York City!
Can you name the structure on the (of course)LEFT?
You just can't make this stuff up. Heh.

Sounds like Rush's suggestion: even after liberalism/socialism/communism is completely and utterly defeated, we should still keep a few of 'em around as specimens on college campusesjust to remind everyone how absurd and stupid their philosophy was. A good incentive never to try their ideas again.
Unfortunately the communists are still in power in Poland.

Have our men from Vegas take it out. They are good at large urban renewal.

I am a Clevelander and I was just thinking the exact same things. No flames here.

Yes, compared to most other Soviet built buildings, it's not bad at all. I'd take that building over some of the architechural wonders that we have in my home town.
