I agree Wilson is a scumbag, but I'm starting to wonder about this prosecutor.

The prosecutor isn't leaking. Sources friendly to Wilson if not Wilson himself are the leakers.

Obviously.

I think he should at least have a press conference and tell them not to "rush to judgement" like they have been.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You seem to think this would impact their reporting. How quaint.

does this have anything to do with the fact that Porter Goss is cleaning out the CIA?

Goss was sent in to clean up in part because of this.

MSM source? Posters here and elsewhere are miles ahead of them.

The first "leak" about Cooper was from Time itself, intended to spin focus on Rove alone. Subsequent leaks tried to minimize Rove's acts, then focus on the INR memo from state.

I believe there were multiple souces of the leak.

Also, MSM is confusing "identity". Is the identity her name, or just mentioning "Wilson's wife". (I think both)

There's no doubt that Freepers are well ahead of the MSM but sometimes hearing it from someone in the MSM is a good verifier that they will either start changing their tune or some of their own will change it for them.

I think I get what you are saying - maybe. The info he gave to Kristof about his visit, and whatever you think he gave to Corn, and what you think he gave to Miller - is it any different than what he put in his op-ed? Because he was given permission to write that. As for who wrote the memo, I don't think we have a name, but SSIC did say that it came from INR, based upon the notes of an INR guy who was in the meeting. If you need a name to conclude that the SSIC is not making that up, I don't think you are going to get it. Of course, you don't have a name of the CIA person you are claiming wrote it, do you?

I don't 'want it' to be someone in the admin - I just don't understand how people can say it came from journalists, etc. It had to initially come from someone with a clearance. If either came from Plame/Wilson, or it came from someone in the Admin... I don't think either Wilson or Plame is a complete idiot, so if they were telling Miller, it would be remarkably stupid to raise a huge stink and blame it on someone else, and call for an investigation.

Anyway, I do think the scenario you are painting defies Occam's Razor.

I think that the SP has other fish to fry, now.

Someone is getting indicted for perjury. Is it Russert, the NY Times reporter, Wilson(s), someone else? I don't know.

The prosecutor has said that he interested in conversations that Cooper and Miller had with a source on subjects other than Plame's CIA identity. That means that the investigation has moved on to other subjects. It looks to me that the prosecutor is looking for security leaks to the media from inside the CIA.

Of course there is someone in the CIA at least acknowledging "Wilson's Wife","Valarie Plame","Valarie Wilson","Bitch of Wilson",etc..because Novak tells us that. Now again CIA sources don't usually have one journalist to go to. No, we don't know the name but we know there is at least one CIA source. Now the INR memo was from someone in the joint meeting that was attended by INR and CIA analyst in which Plame herself introduced Wilson at the meeting. Now, how did the INR find out about Plame and her relationship with Wilson unless someone in the CIA told them and unless it was already common knowledge?

"February 2002
February 19
The CIA Counterproliferation Division (CPD) holds a meeting at CIA headquarters with Joe Wilson. In attendance are intelligence analysts from both the CIA and the State Department's INR. At the beginning of the meeting Valerie Plame introduces Wilson, then leaves after three minutes. The purpose of the meeting it to discuss the merits of sending Wilson to Niger to verify or negate the reports that Iraq was seeking to purchase uranium from Niger.[10] He is asked to attend because of his expertise on Africa and his knowledge of the African uranium trade, gained during his years at the Clinton White House.

"This meeting in a windowless conference room opens with a mention of Mr. Cheney's inquiry about the African connection to Iraq. During the course of that meeting, officials raised the possibility of his traveling to Niger and told him they would contact him with a decision."

It certainly isn't going to be Rove and Libby, but just WHO Fitzgerald is going to indict, I don't really know.

No one knows. But my gut says the Left will have kittens when the indictment comes down.

its too early to tell. I think the indictment on the "outing her name" charge is too complex - too many criteria need to be satisfied to make a charge. the focus is apparently shifting to this "classified memo on the plane" thing, it bears watching closely.

Fitzgerald made such a statement? I don't know about that, I thought this was simply the assertion of Rove's lawyer.

I didn't know or even care who wrote it because it's nothing more than a gotcha document with a little "s" beside a paragraph.

If things are still being done as they were many, many years ago, the 'S' designation on a paragraph indicates that something in the paragraph is classified Secret, not that everything in it is.

The highest classification in the paragraph attaches to the paragraph just as the highest classification contained anywhere in a document attaches to the document.

Fitzgerald made the statement that what he was interested in talking to Cooper and Wilson about, was conversations that they had with a source on subjects other than Plame's identity. This was in response to the question of why the notes about the conversation with Rove were not sufficient.
