FWIW, you've gotten a bit of flack for this, but I think you're absolutely right.

This war needs to be fought not just by the quiet men in the shadows visiting death on the enemy's doorstep, and not just by the combat soldier delivering a louder message, but also by those inviting the enemy to reconsider what they are fighting for and why.

Every would-be jihadist we enlighten is more than just a soldier lost to their side, he is a drag on their daily efforts.

Still it's perhaps not quite as satisfying as taking him our on a field of Battle...

"I'll support Steve on this. Everyone SHOULD know that there are two aspects to war - the Military front and the Psychological front. The psychological aspect is every bit as important as the military aspect."

Thank you very much. I probably set myself up for some of the criticism by playing amateur psychiatrist, but you are right: the essential point is to aggressively challenge the character, the legitimacy, the intelligence, the hypocrisy, and the manhood of the Imams and other jihadists. We are losing the war of words, and need to go on the offense. Calling Islam "the religion of peace" is playing defense, and bad defense at that. We need to strike at their pride.

I met my wife there. I worked at WTC 2 for almost eight years in the 1970s. I will not forget 9/11! Let those who had a hand in it, financed it, or danced in the dtreets of their jihadistans, pay for it in full measure!

Good post, Steve. Thats what I would like to see, too. It is inane for the press or media to continue searching for justification of muslim murder when they are broadcasting amidst body parts from a Jerusalem pizzeria, or wreckage from an undergound rail station. To not acknowledge the atrocities these guys commit IN THE NAME OF GOD, while trying to blame Western lifestyles and politics, makes them complicit in my book...

There's a book written by a former Muslim prof (forget the name at the moment) at the big Muslim university in Cairo, who is now a convert to Christianity. These people CAN be reached, but not by pussyfooting around. They just see that as weakness. PC will kill us just as surely as bombs.

Have me banned then, chief. You call me names, I hurl them back. Ignorance is ignorance and not even you, Selkie, can justify it. So impress me with you pull with the mods. Ban me, I can handle it. Just think real hard about whether or not your opinions jibe with that of the lord (or do you not care WWJD) Good luck.

Amen. I agree wholeheartedly.

I refused an offer with The New York Merchantile Exchange because of the commute. This was in either 1990 or 1991. I know, 10 years before 9-11 and could have move on. Still, one never knows.

I consider myself very lucky and thank God every day. But those innocent lives must never be forgotten. My nephews, who used to work in Manhattan, witnessed the whole thing/carnage that day. He didn't get home until past midnight.

I could see the smoke (and when I say this I'm starting to cry again) from where I live now. To this day when I see firefighters, I start to cry. Can't help it.

Sorry.

I think you're right that it's not as satisfying, but that should not be a factor. Trying times like these call for the self-discipline to avoid emotionally satisfying solutions when effective solutions are what's needed. The two things can sometimes conflict.

It's generally the lousy generals who never think beyond the massive frontal assault on the enemies' strongest point and the good ones who look for their enemies' hidden weaknesses.

Yes...those are the manner of enemies we face in this war and we can neither ignore their nature, underestimate it, or coddle them or anyone who abetts them.

I personally believe that is the point...but only speak for myself.
