The insurgency will end when there is an election.
The insurgency will end when Fallujah is pacified.
The insurgency will end when the Sunni Islamic world runs out of fanatical young men which will be virtually never.
And sam the sham is the baghdad bob of FR(like hillary and oldsmobile ted), what else is new.
General Abizaid has flatly told us that the insurgency is not the least bit weaker. Are the blowhards here going to start calling him a liar and weakling ?
It was not close.. At least Bush is doing something about the terrorist problems besides shooting cruise missles just to act like man
The least bit weaker than when?
Guess what pal, we are goig to stay to finsh the job.. Something that Billy boy didn't have the nads to do..
I'm sure they will.
Six months ago.
Six months ago they were probably about the same but that is not contradictory that they (terrorist) are losing as VP Cheney said. It does mean that they are staying a float a bit longer without proof they are strengthening.
I was just relating what Abazaid said - his comparison was to six months ago.
The American people and General Abizaid, apparently, are vastly less in denial than many here.
What exactly is the mission ? To turn Iraq into Alabama ? Was that ever doable ? Especially once religious fanatic jehadis by the thousands come pouring over the borders. To bluster about "finishing the job" is to ask the American people to lose five Americans a day forever and they will not do that. "Willpower" is no substitute for having a clear plan towards realistic goals.
Beat the rebels in Tikrit and they move to Fallujah. Beat them in Fallujah and they move to Mosul. Beat them in Mosul and they move to Ramadi, etc, etc. This is a war of attrition with 10-25% of the adult male Sunni Muslim world on their terms in their turf.
By the way, is anyone leaning on the Saudis to cut off the contributions from the Gulf to the insurgents ? I didn't think so. Is anyone seriously planning to interdict infiltration trails through Syria ? I didn't think so.
What did General Abizaid say? I heard him yesterday. He did not say that "we cannot win the war". At the contrary he said that we can win the war but it will be tough fight as all the other wars. You live in your own delusion and defeatist world and you are lying about what our military commanders are saying.
We are winning this war and we will achieve the final and ultimate victory in this war. We are fig thing in Iraq to draw the terrorist in the Middle East and Kill them right there. Your dumb assumption that 10 to 25% of the Sunni males in the Muslims world are coming to fight is just a sign of your stupidity. 10% to 25% of these guys represent 75 to 125 million Muslim male. The terrorist are lucky if they have recruited 40 to 50 thousand people who are ready to fight and die fore their terrorist "non cause". We killed most of them and all what we need is to finish the rest, and as I said before this year end the terrorist insurgency will be dead or almost dead. By the way we are not losing five soldiers a day and in the last 800 days we were in Iraq we lost almost 1700 soldiers with only 1300 in real combat. God bless their souls and comfort their families ans we are so grateful for their ultimate sacrifice. So on average we lost 2 soldiers a day and less than 2 a day in combat. We are a nation of 300 millions people and for the great and Noble cause of defeating the terrorist who are attacking our freedom and our way of life we can make the sacrifice to lose 2 soldiers a day for two or three years. If defeatist cowards like you do not want it and they want to surrender to our enemies then move out of the way because the majority of us under the leadership of our President Bush and the bravery and excellence of our great military want to fight this war until we achieve the ultimate victory.
We are changing the Middle East and spreading freedom and democracy. No we are not delusional to think that Iraq will become Alabama but at least we are giving them the conditions to live in freedom and without fear. And guess what they love freedom, because 8.5 million of them challenged death and voted in January 2005 because they want freedom. Our 150000 soldiers presence in Iraq have pushed Syria out of Lebanon after 30 years of brutal occupation. This month the Lebanese held their first free elections in 30 years. Bringing freedom to people will eventually remove the cancer of terrorism that has been holding so long in this region. Once they are free they do not want o go back to the oppression of terrorist and live in seven century society.
Your defeatist attitude is greatly despised and rejected by the majority of American and by 90% of the people on this great forum.
Shame on you Sam the Sham(e).
You're right that the Sunni tribes do seem to have limitless reserves of fanatics on which to draw.
You're wrong that Iraq is "their" territory. The Sunnis, and especially the traditional tribal Sunnis, are concentrated in Anbar Province. THAT'S their territory.
Al Anbar is of course part of Iraq, which is now and will continue to be run by Shiites, a large source of angst for the tribes. But I believe that once they see that they can gain more from being a part of the process than by resisting the process, they'll eventually lay down their arms. Like most people, they are motivated primarily by self-interest, and right now they perceive their interests to be better served by resisting the changes going on in Iraq. When reality catches up, there'll be a change.
And when THAT happens, the counterinsurgency war WILL be won. I don't know why you and others in this thread insist that this type of war is unwinnable. We're not facing supermen here, they're human beings just like you and I.

Bush, and bushbotism, is a footnote in history. This war is tipping psychologically, and there's no stopping it EXCEPT for massive military action on our part. We haven't got the politcal will required to seal the borders of that sorry country, section it off, and kill every jihadi in every section.
Under Saint W, we'll continue to piss around, and lose because pissing around WILL win the war...but it'll take a longer time than Americans are willing to wait.
Whatever you want to believe, IMO, pseudo-DUmmie.
Ad hominem = high school
Ask the characters who blow themselves up if they care about the Iraqi constitution.
For that matter, as your hero in the White House if he cares about OUR constitution, now that we've lost another of the Bill of rights, Mr. bot.

Well gee, it seems you know high school well and are spending summer school there, especially with your leftist implied sympathy for the islamofascists, and not knowing that it was 5 liberal justsices on SCOTUS who made the travesty of the decision concerning eminent domain.
I have no sympathy for terrorists. Only your irrational bot mind would interpret my statements as that.
I've said it a thousand times: this war has to be ended QUICKLY, or it's lost. The only way to do that is to stop farting around, escalate the violence against the jihadis, and kill them. All. Finally.
We are calling on your saintly hero in the White House to simply SPEAK OUT against what happened with the Supreme Court. That's all. Demonstrate some leadership qualities. Take a stand on something important.
Instead, tonight, he's entertaining the head of COMMUNIST VIET NAM in the White House. Wrap your bot excuses around that one.
Hmm he hasn't spoken for it, has he, oh BTW, you should know a person by their actions and not their words.
I also notice your silence at GW Bush's nominating conservative judges to the courts.
Isn't playing two way street fun?
BTW, put your resume in at the Pentagon, they can always use an outspoken keyboard General.(/sarcasm)
