Good Point. Look at two things which the Feminists have forced to be changed at our Service Academies. At the Air Force Academy the "BRING ME MEN" quote was removed from the Academy after Feminists objected, and at my beloved Naval Academy they changed the words of Blue and Gold to remove men from the words.

Now college MEN from sea to sea
May sing of colors true,
But who has better right then we
To hoist a symbol hue?
For sailor MEN brave in battle fair
Since fighting days of old,
Have proved a sailor's right to wear
The Navy Blue and Gold.

So hoist our colors, hoist them high,
And vow allegiance true,
So long as sunset gilds the sky
Above the ocean blue,
Unlowered shall those colors be
Whatever fate they meet,
So glorious in victory,
Triumphant in defeat.

Four years together by the Bay
Where Severn joins the tide,
Then by the Service called away,
We've scattered far and wide;
But still when two or three shall meet,
And old tales be retold,
From low to highest in the Fleet
Will pledge the Blue and Gold.

yeah amazing isn't it?? and I bet the ratio of women (in such a rush to get to work) leaving their little babies in SUV's to burn up is way higher than men, but you don't hear much about THAT except for "but she's so stressed, it's understandable"...BLECH!

Yep - people who place undue weight on stuff like this are just being victims.

TV commercials are just dumb - they consistently have been. My alltime fave, though, is this 75 second Ann-Marget commercial for ginger ale from 35+ years ago. I only recently discovered it and it is HOT!!! ;-)

"Sort of explains why violence against women is on the rise."

Exactly. I think this may be something that is cyclical. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a fair share of feminists around the early part of the 1900's. There sure weren't many around by the 40's and 50's then they were back again by the 80s and 90s it seems to me.

Maybe men let them out of the bottle until they wear out their welcome, then find some way to put them back in the bottle.

Yeah, thats what I thought until I became a father of a boy and a girl who have to grow up in the hash the friggen boomers have made of gender relations & society in general. Commercials are mere symptoms.

Ultimately it's up to each of them to find their own way.

I was born and raised in manhattan in the 1970s and 80s (key liberal glory years), attended a Jesuit High School where the teachers were much more liberal than the students, attended Vassar College for 4 years (freaky lib and as anti male as anyplace), and then law school (celebration of the victim mentality).

I turned out ok. The truth is that life becomes a lot better when you hold the people in your life to real standards and hold them accountable: reward their good behavior, punish their bad behavior.

What we as a culture have is too many people rewarding bad behavior then complaining about being an afterthought. It makes no sense, really.

The latest being the commercial from Verizon(?) with the cool childless couple laughing at dads sporting silly fathers day ties, etc.

Not to over-analyze this, but the man in that commercial received the camera phone as a "Father's Day" gift, so I'm pretty sure the couple isn't supposed to be childless.

I do share the original poster's disgust with the way men and fathers (especially white men) are being portrayed in commercials. I remind my daughter often that her mom and I aren't the bumbling nitwits that Disney and Nickelodeon would have her believe we are.

There's this constant argument about whether women who go out half naked are asking to be raped. Of course there is no excuse for raping them, but they're still asking for it.

Same here. It's never right for a bigger stronger man to beat up a woman, but if men are generally frustrated by the system in their dealings with women, a certain percentage are going to act out.

Not me of course. Though it is satisfying the way they go flying up against the wall when you belt them, as opposed to men, who just stand there and then hit you back. JUST KIDDING!

For a guy to have custody, the woman has to be dead or in jail.

You are quite, quite correct. I sometimes wish I had recordings of what the family court services mediators did to My life, because people literally have no idea how we males are such automatic revenue-sources in their eyes -and good for nothing else. I was treated EXACTLY that way by the system, never mind that I had a great job and the mother was on welfare. All that meant was that there was an easy paper trail to ensure that payments were sent in a regular manner. Through all those years that I fought, it was for the right to see My child, never mind all the times when the mother got her knickers all knotted up and arbitrarily denied Me visitation, thereby forcing Me to get her served and back in court to rehash over the matter. On more than one occasion I requested that she be arrested for disobeying a court order so that I could see My child, and the answer was always the same: they would not arrest her, but would file a report so that I could take her back to court. Another six months at the very least before I could see My child again, and sometimes longer.

And people wonder why 'deadbeat dads' exist. Yes, the courts would do and see nothing at all where the mother was concerned, but if I missed a child-support payment the telephone would be ringing at My attorney's office with outright threats of incarceration and legal fees. An attorney whose fees I had to pay, but the mother was represented by an attorney appointed by the court -at no cost to her.

You are correct. I am speaking more towards what seems to be a rather timeless problem : that what is good for the goose IS NOT good for the gander. Are the men willing to start holding each other accountable for the same behavior they find so deplorable in women? If a man has an affair, are his male friends/coworkers going to put pressure on him to stop dishonoring his wife? Or will it be wink-wink-nod-nod for the man, and an all-around trashing of the woman? Are the men going to expect the same high standards of each other if they insist that the only proper and good woman live the same high standards? This was a problem in society in the past. Since we have swung both sides of the pendulum now, I think its time for both men AND women to take a good hard look at themselves and understand that bad behavior, PERIOD, should not be tolerated and that both sides should feel the pain of consequences.

That's all I am saying.

I assumed the cool couple bought each other the phones. Anyway, call me thin skinned but I find it offensive that anyone would laught at a fathers day gift, regardless of how silly. I thought it was a stupid commercial.

Nothing out of the ordinary these days. I don't know what these ad agencies are thinking.

I think that you misunderstand this clearly. If a man stands up for himself he isn't a victim. Why shouldn't men stand up for themselves? The federal gov has no right to institute affirmative action against us. There's no reason men should not be treated equally. If we're being wronged, we should fight back.

the mainstream newspapers and television are controlled by feminists who are trained in universities.

the austin unamerican stateswoman, as we call it, is a feminist paper. recently they editorialized that anny coulter's speech at the lbj library was "hate speech".

I think equality is what has gotten us into this mess. The levellers deserve ridicule, not plagiarism.

Of course taking Ritalin will not result in one becoming a homosexual.

Well, that might be right, but have there been any studies made about the notion?
