As long as they didn't systematically inflict the infamous panty on the head torture technigue this story will get little or no MSM play.

It's obviously Bush's fault.

In this photograph, made available by the U.S. Marines an Iraqi man sits on the floor with welts and lacerations across his back and arms from being tortured with electricity while held captive AP knows many folks will only read that first sentence and assume it was our Marines doing the torture.

piss poor headline, but regardless of what it says the arab spin is gonna be that this guy was tortured by marines, and hadji in the street will eat it up.
you wouldn't believe the flat out frabricated crap that was circulating last year when fallujah was heating up - and being bought by educated otherwise intelligent iragis.

It must be fake. Only WE do these things. I think DICK should investigate this photo.

Amnesty Int bought the Palestinian lie that there had a been a massacre in Jenin by the IDF. The claim was debunked...AI is yet to retract or apologize.
None of this should come as any surprise.

Many of those marks appeaar to be third degree burns. I'll bet our medics had already given him something to ease his pain -- before they even took this photo to document his torture.
No doubt, this poor fellow will have lifetime scars (both physical and mental) -- not some passing "panty embarassment".
Hey, NYT: feature this for a full month -- like you did the panties!!!

The title is very deceptive (on purpose) .. this is not in Gitmo.
This is one of the four people OUR MARINES FOUND IN A RAID IN IRAQ. It was a bunker which was used for torture by the terrorists.

I'm actually surprised this story even ran in any news media. The other MSM outlets maybe will pick it up in a week or two and will run it on page 16E as a 5 line story with no photos.
To: Conservatrix; InfraRed; kabar; tomakaze
There are no headlines on the Yahoo! photograph site where I got this.
I wrote the headline (which is completely accurate), to draw people in and note how differently real torture by our enemies is treated, compared to minor discomfort at the hands of Americans.
If the marks on this mans back came at the hands of US Marines this picture would be on the front page of every paper in the world tomorrow. But since US Marines ended this mans torture, it will be seen virtually nowhere.
I hope some lurking liberals were disappointed to read the fine text.

I wrote the headline (which is completely accurate), I didn't realize that you deliberately made the headline misleading. When I read, "Marines release horrific photo of recently tortured prisoner" I immediately assumed, in the recent context of Durbin and Gitmo, that it was the Marines doing the torturing. It did get my attention, which is why I opened up the item

what do you expect from AFP - which is a FRENCH media group. Pretty much the same thing I expect from domestic media, but I'm not going to use that word on this site.
