All right! Now you guys are playing Jedi mind tricks on me.

Two years ago. Not one of my damn fool neighbors had so much as a candle or a flashlight, let alone a working telephone, yet we used to get mocked for being "old-fashioned."

We were the ones laughing when we fired up the barbecue!

No, not exactly. My infrared is still on the lookout for the real droid. Something tells me that the weather played a part in it not coming out to play today. We shall see.

Amazing, isn't ?

If it were not for modern society, some people are too dumb to survive.

August 14, 2003.

I remember it distinctly.

I was browsing through the video/DVD collection at the main branch of the NYPL when the lights went out.

In fact, it occurred only a few minutes after I had come up from the Bryant Park subway station.

Very, very hot.

The bathroom at the new Coliseum Books-which was just a block away from the library-was so crowded that they actually wound up closing it for repairs within the week.

You are right. It was August, and it was 2003.

(I looked it up.)

What cracked me up about that was Al-Q immediately taking responibility for it.

And when it finally was all sorted out, it turned out the problem started in . . . Cleveland. LOL

It's Drew Carey's fault.

I see, so the rest of the world should be child-proofed. brilliant. i don't know about you, but doing things 'for the children' smacks of a certain brown shirt crowd. So, I guess by your definition... if I do not subscribe to child worship I must be soulless. Therefore, on peril of my immortal soul.. I MUST agree with you. LOL

Personally, I think kids today with the bike helmets and fear of walking down the street alone are being coddled and will result in kids afraid to take a risk. If there is a problem with perverts on the streets, then force your local liberal judge to keep them in prison. If they served their time but you are not satisfied, then push to have the sentence extended. (Of course I would say that the undermining of the moral core of America is really at fault here)

Too many laws are being pushed with emotional tag lines like these. Too many people are making their political decisions based on emotional issues, and not rational thought and logical thinking. They end up being easy pickins for the political operatives out there (HRC comes to mind).

As for 'emotional terrorism'.. I guess when all you have is a hammer, all problems become nails. Is it 'terrorism' to show you an image you find disturbing? Hardly. Get real. This is what we get for coddling our adults. Ask the British about terrorism as they endure cafe bombings and watch a family man beg for his life over weeks... in vain. The liberals won't dare show that on US TV, because we wouldn't roll over like the Brits. We'd demand action immediately, and not surgical strike action.. WW2 style carpet bomb action.

The purpose of the offensive pics would be an attempt to drive people away. They fear FR since it is a location where people are encouraged (normally) not to react emotionally but to have a rational discussion of the facts and a gathering of related events allowing people to determine the true nature of the story. This undermines the liberal hold on the information machine and it drives them nuts. Clean it up when you see it.. but label it for what it is. Liberals and the only method they have for securing their hold on information flow.

As for tubgirl... realizing that person had been paid to do that, I quickly realized that maybe my job isn't as bad as I thought.

Apparently they had the notion that a big power outage in New York especially would have people rioting and eating one another inside of 48 hours.

Must have dissapointed them no end, that other than a little looting, no one went crazy.

(Unlike what THEY would do...like with that stupid Newsweek story!)
Off to hit the pool, G!

Back later.

The purpose of the offensive pics would be an attempt to drive people away.

Would that attempt be for everyone, or just the specific ones targeted?

My guess, would to drive everyone away.. not just the targeted. The goal is to undermine the information flow. That would require offending and driving off many, not just a smaller subset.

I do not believe it to really be a racist attack. Those types have their own venues on the net for that stuff, and FR has never been a home to that sort. Therefore, it makes more sense to be a typical liberal smear attack.. in an attempt to make FR and the conservative (or non-liberal) viewpoint look like a bunch of knuckle dragging, low brow, racists.

Oh, really? Have a look at this. This is historical, and I'm not done. Yet.

Everybody's gonna feel it from now on.

Yeah, it was nothing like the last blackout, where an entire neighborhood (Bushwick) was virtually emptied, as rioters went on a ferocious crime spree.

Have fun, T!

It's 90 degrees where I am.

:)
