"Fines issued for knives and other sharp objects range from $250 to $1,500. Fines issued for firearms discovered in carry-on luggage range from $1,500 to $7,500."
Follow the money folks!

And everyone thought making the screeners at the airport government employees would solve everything. I hate to say I told you so but...

"My concern is that if that's the way they're treating American citizens I would hate to think how they're treating other people. It's crazy."Veil your face and get a Koran - - it is considered politically incorrect to harass anybody who is not a normal-looking white American - - and you will skate right through, with smiles and pleasantries from all.

My first question is why didn't she use disposable knives for the outing? That being asked, I do think screening is pretty useless as it stands right now.
I get sick and tired of getting singled out every time I fly. I get the third degree while younger single passengers are given the OK. My husband tells me that I get singled out due to my complexion but I have noticed others with similar complexions being passed by without being picked out for random screenings. I guess there is some kind of BOLO for single passenger grandmothers on flights.

Not to worry. The ACLU is hot on their way to do her justice. Oh, there goes another pig flying by.

Actually, I would hope they were treating "other people"
a hell of a lot worse.

This doesn't sound right. Recently (about two days ago), I was caught with a pocketknife when going through airport security (I carry one everywhere, and I totally forgot about it). All they did was confiscate it. And they were pleasant about it too. Fortunately for me, the pocketknife had little intrinsic and sentimental value for me.
However, that was the end of the incident as far as the TSA were concerned. No further screening, no nothing.
