But that flies in the face of the WP and "informants" agreement. It was the daughter that leaked the info but why now? The agreement was for after he's dead, which looks like soon, but he's still alive.

No kidding. I just saw a clip of the daughter. IMO, her demeaner coupled with what she was saying about her "heroic" father and his place in history was, well, disturbing.

Some hero. The Deputy Director of the FBI who lacked the courage or the principles to report the alleged crimes to the authorities using the appropriate channels. Instead, he leaked the info anonomously to the press while remaining in his position of trust. He didn't resign and he didn't testify before Congress. Felt should be prosecuted for his criminal conduct.

It is ironic that Felt was pardoned by Reagan after being convicted by a jury for condoning his own Watergate type "break-in" without a warrant.

One reason, I think, was that he was disgruntled but why is his family defending his patriotism unless he's having a guilt complex and wants to clear his conscience before he dies? Was he doing more than just jockeying for position at the time?

Well, Nixon and Halderman knew it all along.... MF is not a hero, nor a patriot.

So, the great hero of the left turns out to be nothing more than an ingrate bureacrat who was upset because he was passed up for a promotion. There's some altruism.

I'm still reading .. but from that link

Hoover refused to go along, citing the illegality of elements of the plan. This was the genesis on the “Plumbers” and the beginning of a series of illegal break-ins, wiretaps, and ‘black bag’ jobs that would bring down the government.

Hoover was worried about the illegality??

This coming from a man who had investigations and wiretaps on many top political figures??

And MF is a democrat. Now that figures too, doesn't it?

Democrats love payback and always feel slighted and jealous over promotions or good fortunes of others.

This revealing about John Dean.....

John Dean tells us in "Lost Honor", of a conversation he had with John Ehrlichman about wiretap records that was passed on to Ehrilichman to prevent Hoover’s using them for blackmail. Ehrlichman responds, “Deny it! It sounds like your friend over at the FBI, Mark Felt, has been talking again” (67). Dean goes on further to say that the only people who knew the names of the individuals whose phones had been tapped at the time “…the information was given to Woodward were Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger, John Ehrlichman, John Mitchell, Bob Mardian and…in the FBI, Mark Felt” (347).

That's what I had heard too long ago.

Nixon was right to be wary of him.

Shoulda turned Liddy loose on him...lol

Exactly. From what I have gathered here today, Liddy is pissed, and rightly so.

That's interesting read about Bush from Dean,"worse than watergate". It just makes one question the MSM's intent to parallel this administration to the Nixon one and the cohorts that are assisting them.

TODAY'S QUOTES!

"If he were interested in performing his duty, he would have gone to the grand jury with his information." - G. Gordon Liddy, a former Nixon operative who helped direct the break-in, in a CNN interview.

"There's a certain mythology about Deep Throat and his being omnipotent and knowing all and seeing all. (But) he missed a lot of information or had it wrong." - John Dean, Nixon's former White House counsel, on MSNBC.

When Haig was toying with running for President the reporters would often comment on his chain smoking. He later had heart bypass surgery and reportedly quit smoking then.
