I'm a taxpayer and I still can't get free ice cream from Dairy Queen.

Since when does Dairy Queen collect taxes?

Complete sentence: "They tell me I'm a legally competent person to refuse [life support], but I'm not legally competent to make the decision that I don't want the end of my life to be hastened," Burke said. "I find that contradiction very hard to understand."

There's no contradiction. If you refuse life support you save the State money. If you choose life support you cost the State money. It's a State health plan the State is paying for it, not you, so don't be selfish with the State's money.

Kids need condoms and abortions and stuff. Pedophiles need Viagra. Women need boob jobs and face lifts. Businessmen and politicians need erectile implants. Children need Ritalin, Prozac, Zoloft and zit creams. If you want to hang around taking up space and wasting air just because you think your precious life is worth so much then pay for it yourself.

And if the man is a taxpayer does the state have to play by his rules? Or does this only work in favor of the state?

What's the old saying? "possession is nine tenths of the law?" Once the State has the money it is the State's money.
