It's hard to believe they fell as far as they did. That organization put a SB contending team on the field for almost two decades.

His comments were familiar.

I'm an old Baltimore Colts fan, this is on the level of Superbowl victory. The Irsay's ripped the heart out of Baltimore Colts fans on a cold snowy night. A lot of people have forgotten, younger people don't know or don't care, but some of us still can't forget.
Thanks to the Patriots for putting the smack down on Indy last year, it felt sooooo good!

no kidding. I came to school and told my friend they had gotten rid of TO and Garcia, he got a small grin and just said
"the rebuilding years"
i thought that summed it up.

Yes, they do. But the Metrodome doesn't have a place to hang banners so they put a sign up on the wall that rings the field. Hardly a way to pay proper tribute.

Thank you for this thread.
The AFL, and NFL Europe, just aren't the same.
But I support them anyhow.
Contrary to what some "people" think or say, there is no such thing as too much football.

You're welcome. We've got them at Foxboro for MNF in November where we'll do it to them yet again.
The Ravens defense smacked them around last year at Indy but your offense just couldn't put many points on the board.

A rebuilding year for the 49ers used to mean just a wild card birth.

I'm a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but it made my blood boil to see what Irsay did to the city of Baltimore.
The Colts were an institution; one of the pillars of the NFL for years. For Irsay to sneak them out of Baltimore like that is unconscionable.
I remember an article in a football mag that year titled, "The Rape of an NFL City." That says it all.
I still can't say "Indianapolis Colts" without wincing. At least he could have had the decency to change the name.

I always get my friends with a trick question about that. I ask them how many NFL titles the Vikings have won and of course they answer none because the Vikes are 0 for 4 in the SB.

If he is he has a short memory.
To: Skooz
I grew up with the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Raiders. I always had to correct my father because he'd refer to them as Baltimore and Oakland by accident. He was happy when the Raiders moved back to the bay area.
To: mainepatsfan
And the thing of it is, the team generally regarded as the best the Vikings ever put on the field didn't even make the Super Bowl. That would be the 1975 team which lost to the Hail-Mary-Drew-Pearson-push-off at Met Stadium.

To: mainepatsfan
Yeah, I never got in the habit of the "Los Angeles" Raiders. I called them the "Oakland Raiders" the whole time they were in LA.

Yup! That's all he had to do and he didn't. The guy was a drunk and a liar. Carroll Rosenbloom trade teams with him and not long after the decline of the Colts began, like a disease.
I wonder some times what things would be like now if that hadn't happened. Then again, the way teams threaten cities today over stadiums it may well have happened anyway.
