It is kind of ironic---on this thread today, I have seen two articles posted, one about Lugar that hints that Lugar may be on the compromise side, and we didn't count him..
and the other is the one about Hagel being for Frist, and we did count him on the compromise side..
I guess that means we are still talking about 6 RINOS?
Snowe, Collins, McCain, Warner, Chafee, DeWine....
BTW, on c-span, they are showing a replay of Sen.Snowe and Sen. Collins giving the DEF Dept hell for the BRAC list and them losing bases in Maine.....
If they did more to help out the Republicans, well.....

Well, when you have the TV muted, and on Closed captioning, it loses a little of the PUNCH in the punchline, I guess! LOL

Snowe and collins haven't lifted a finger to help us on any important issue. I see no reason to help them keep those bases.
I doubt Lugar will go against Frist on a vote. I'm not his biggest fan but you could count me surprised if he did.

Somewhere on FR today I read a link saying that insiders in her office said that Collins was furious and slamming doors in the office. The insiders speculated that her anger was most likely because she, the governor of her state (name?) and several others had been turned down by Rumsfeldt for an appointment....probably about the base closing in her state.

ALLEN, George, a Representative and a Senator from Virginia; born in Whittier, Los Angeles County, Calif., March 8, 1952; B.A., J.D., University of Virginia; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Second Congress by special election November 5, 1991, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of D. French Slaughter Jr., and served from November 5, 1991, to January 3, 1993; was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred and Third Congress, but was a successful candidate for Governor of Virginia for the term beginning January 15, 1994, and served until January 17, 1998; elected to the United States Senate in 2000 for the term ending January 3, 2007; chair, National Republican Senatorial Committee (2003-2005).
Plus he is Presbyterian, lawyer, on the Foreign Relations, voted Nay on a Boxer Amendment while Warner voted Yea.

TV went on mute when Kerry appeared. I'm really sorry guy, but I don't think I can ever again hear that voice after the past election year. It makes me want to defeat him all over again.
To: defconw
Hagel and McCain are running for POTUS. They know that their future is toast if they side with the Dems. Warner is not going to vote contrary to the leadership. Neither is DeWine. Graham is vying to replace McCain as a media darling, but he will side with Frist when push comes to shove. Collins knows that she owes her chairmanship to the leadership and will fall in line.
I see Chafee and Snowe bolting. No more.
To: Txsleuth
Txsleuth , was it you or OXEN that posted that bit about Collins having some kinda fit at her office today?? Way back maybe 3pm Eastern
To: Dad yer funny; OXENinFLA
It must have been OXEN IN FLA, not me---
