Serbia is an enemy to America. Go to the US State Dept. web site and see for yourself. Serbia is still under US export embargo.

"President Stipe Mesic told visiting U.S. Sen. George Voinovich his country still opposes Washington's request for U.S. troops to be exempt from prosecution before the International Criminal Court, his office said Thursday."

Sen. Voinovich: "President Mesic, you have obviously confused me with somebody who actually gives a sh*t about what you have to say on this matter"

Serbia constitutes no threat to the US in any form.

Croatia, however, appears to be actively working against US interests.

Sounds like our State Dept. is behind the curve once again, eh? LOL!

Get a life and READ the Rome Statute before you spout off about how great the ICC is.

The ICC can assume jurisdiction as soon as it believes that the "host" country is unwilling to prosecute (or, in the real world, if it disagrees with the findings of the host country).

NONE of the constitutional protections we Americans enjoy are guaranteed. Such minor protections such as ex post facto, confrontation of accusers/witnesses, 4th and 5th Ammendment guarantees. Nothing real major!

Furthermore, our participation in the ICC would be a gross violation of the Constitution which grants the ultimate judicial power to "one Supreme Court".

As to the "rule of law" - please show me in the Rome Statute where this law is specifically detailed! The statute is extremely vague on exactly what is or is not a "crime" and, to make matters worse, the definitions can be changed "at will".

Lastly, your quoted line in bold is NOT farfetched as attempts to do exactly that have already been undertaken in countries which purport to have the right to try a US citizen for such "crimes", whether the person is subject to the jurisdiction of that country or not.

Why, because I acknowledge that Serbia is the country that shot down a US fighter plane less than 10 years ago and still hasn't paid reparations?

Stipe Mesic is a communist. He used to actually be a card carrying member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. He wants Croatia to join the EU so that it can become more collectivist.

This is not a good idea and most average Croatians agree if you see the polling.

EU membership in Croatia is driven by the left, the former Communist now "biznismen" crooks, and the intelligensia.

And don't tell me I don't know what is going on in Croatia, I was there very recently.

The US military wants a free hand in its "hot pursuit" of terror. It will be answerable to no nation for any crime it commits in their country. As Abu Graib illustrates, only the lesser ranks will face punishment, while the policy officers are untainted (it does take a stomach to look at yourself): In Kosovo, in the full demonizing of the Serbs, all crimes led directly to Milosevic; it was all so obvious--to the US, that is, even sending a diplomat to walk up the ravine at Racak. The US knows how much they have politicized the indictments of their chosen enemies and do not want to swallow similar medicine. The more the US becomes a rogue state the less it will want to be troubled by the strictures of the "rule of law"--and there really is no reason to parse the meaning of that phrase.
