The Catholic church seems to say society can only execute people when it can't contain them. Would this logic then allow pro-abortionists to say babies can be aborted when thier mother's can't afford the children? I'm afraid I'm not following you here. The Church is talking about sparing lives. The abortionists are talking about destroying lives. Those are opposites. Not all killing is murder. But the deliberate killing of innocent persons is always murder. That's why it cannot be justified under any circumstances: Killing 30 babies every Saturday at Women's Surgi-center or killing 100,000 civilians in Nagasaki or killing sexual rival with a baseball bat.

I'm afraid I'm not following you here. The Church is talking about sparing lives. The abortionists are talking about destroying lives. You seem to be just another zealot who ignores their church's logical contradictions. No need to respond further.

No really, I didn't understand your analogy. Are you saying there is no moral distinction whatever between a mother killing the baby in her womb, and political authorities killing a convicted felon? Or what?
All I need is further explanation here, which will be graciously received.

I understand from my sister that Cardinal Egan wants to remain in New York "in power" until he is 78. How old is he now? I thought ordinaries had to submit their resignation upon their 75th birthday. The major difference between Eddie and our Holy Father - for Eddie it's all about what he wants and for His Holiness it's all about what He wants.
So I've been told to expect a "makeover" for Egan to make him look like Pope Benedict's best ally.
Ugh. It seems to me that Cardinal George is Benedict XVI's best ally among the US Cardinals and Archbishop Burke his best ally among the US bishops.

Edward Cardinal Egan was born on April 2, 1932, so I guess he must have just turned 73...
>>>mustering up charity here<<<..... I can't stand his voice.

Just because they have to submit their resignation doesn't mean it has to be accepted. Look at Cardinal O'Connor's age and think of competition...

Finally. There are truly more that should be added to that list, not just Notre Dame.
Protesting parishioners prayed the rosary while she spoke and they were thrown out of their own church by strongmen. The church allowed their own to be tossed while this pro choice female pandered for votes. Sadly, this sort of disease is common in some dioceses, 'old-fashioned' orthodox Catholics dissed and tossed out in favor of CINO's.
She is larger than all of it. Ask her.
Well, actually we don't ask her, we don't speak directly to her highness, we go through her people. And if our query is worthy, we are deigned a reponse. ;-)
