Yes, the choice has been made. But, we still need
to know that this choice was wrong.
I would love to hear a faithful believer exclaim...
"It's a shame this was done, that someone else
couldn't be found. It's a shame in anyway to glorify
the evil of the past but I still honor my church, even if I think this choice is misguided."
What's wrong with admitting the Emperor has no clothes?
If we all get really, really quiet, maybe he'll think we went away . . .

He can't do anything for women - he's taken a vow of celibacy. She'll just have to be satisfied with her husband instead.

The only "horror" of this appointment is for those who worship the idols of relativism, feminism, liberalism and modernism. I hope he doesn't waste too much time reaching out to the spiritually dead - you can't have a dialogue with corpses, only a monologue.
The Holy Spirit leads people individually: a word needed to be spoken, an action taken. The urge to do something may come from nowhere, a hand reaching out to help another lost soul.
All these actions together help move good forward.
God above leads His people...

My choice would have inspired the world, given hope to the oppressed who suffer under tyrannical regimes. My choice would be free of stains of the past.
My choice would not revive the nightmares of Hitler's Reign.

Healing rifts does not mean making Protestants into Catholics, it means that there are common beliefs that should be emphasised where all faiths can work together and differences that are acknowledged but put to the side.
The evil in the world today needs common cause to fight. Look at what is happening to Christianity here in the US. Despite the fact that most Americans are believers, we are being pushed from the public square, having evil forced down our throats, and stand helpless as laws are passed that go against everything we believe. Christians MUST unite.
I'd like to agree, but in my experience: finding common ground quickly degenerates into identifying what caused the division in the first place. Eucharist, Mary, Purgatory, saints, papal infallability/authority, praying to the dead, equality/superiority of tradition, extravagant decorations, etc. are fundamental to Catholicism and anathama to Protestantism. Obfuscating common ground further is the casual dismissal of core doctrines by followers - on both sides. We agree on Christ - unfortunately beyond that there are unrelenting differences.

Here's a novel idea: try reading the Holy Bible! While God above does indeed lead His people, he has always chosen to do this through weak and fallible men such as Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Samuel, Saul, David etc. etc. etc., not to mention all the prophets He sent to guide His people.
Where do you get your ideas of spiritual anarchy from - they are certainly not Scriptural?
A leader of 1/6th of the world's population garners everyone's attention & interest.
Exactly: no way.
Every Easter thousands do exactly that.

It's an odd situation. The Pope does not speak for me,
and any choice would be acceptable.
But, this choice, this man, this selection does speak
to me. Because the world suffered because of Hitler.
Millions died defeating the influence of evil on the planet, countries ruined, an enire race almost wiped out.
Even today, the residue of that past, causes turmoil in the Middle East, and leads our Nation to war to temper the influence of the remaining hate.
The past should stay the past, the evil dishonored.
Why honor evil? Why even take that chance?
