"Thomas Groome of Boston College on phone - he's disappointed"

Not half as disappointed as I am to what has happened to my alma mater over the past 25 years.

George, Charlie, and Cokie are saying this is "very controversial," pointing out that he is the one who issued the papers saying that if you are Catholic and support abortion you should be denied the sacrements.

I think I'm the only one here rooting for Arinze...

NOPE! I was pulling for him, and would have been thrilled had he been elected. But I LOVE Cardinal Ratzinger. So I am so happy!!!

In all things, Lord, thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany addresses the faithful as the new pope in this frame from TV, at the Vatican, Tuesday, April 19 2005. Bells chimed at St. Peter's Basilica Tuesday evening, announcing to the world that a new pope was elected in the first papal conclave of the new millennium. The pope will be known as Benedict XVI .

Looks like RoseofTexas originated it. I'm not clever, myself, but I recognize cleverness when I see it :-).

"This choice will be universally denounced by liberals.."

There are LOTS of alternative churches for those American and European leftist "Roman Catholics" who want gay bishops, women priests, etc. Let them stand by their principles and leave.

Did you expect a pope who wasn't Catholic? The guy's conservative and freaks out the left. That's good enough for me. I haven't seen any evidence that Ratzinger "hates" Protestants. He obviously would like very much for us all to become Catholic, and makes no bones about it. But so would any good Catholic.

Not really, although I do see alot of anti-Christian thinking here posited as religious. The Nostrodamus/Malachy witchcraft stuff, the bedding down with the jewish unbelievers. As a Protestant, I can joke about the Inquisition, because Benedict may want it, but the Roman Catholic Church is just a sideshow now in the political world, especially since JP2 sided with Saddam. And I don't need some guy in a funny hat telling ME how or when I can talk to My Lord.

Well, I'm sure His Holiness is just all a twitter waiting for some blowhard, anti-Catholic troll to read his mind and predict his actions.
