Principal Fired for Failing to Report Sex Assault Case ***....Mr. Watson and other administrators told investigators that the principal, Regina B. Crenshaw, had also advised the father to avoid calling the police, the investigation report says. Mrs. Crenshaw recommended that the father return the next morning and report the incident to a police officer who was usually stationed at the school but who was not there on March 9, the report added.
"Do not call the police; let our officer handle it tomorrow, and you will be happy with the results," Mr. Watson said Mrs. Crenshaw told the father, the investigation report says. ....***

The pre-dawn telephone call came early enough for Mankewich's squad to seize the special-needs bus' surveillance tape before it recorded over with Friday trips. The tape clearly shows Mosquera fondling the teen for about 30 seconds, according to interviews.
"We got lucky," Mankewich said. "It definitely confirms what he [the teenager] says."
On Monday, the Sex Crimes unit plans to open investigations into each of the unreported allegations as well as reopen a previous case in which Mosquera was accused of sexually molesting another student, Mankewich said. The case was closed when detectives could not find enough evidence to justify an arrest, he said.
Mosquera's only previous arrest involves a misdemeanor battery charge last May, according to court records.
Mankewich said Mosquera was accused of touching or striking a child's face and the case remains under prosecution. The arrest prompted school officials to remove Mosquera from a route with elementary students and assign him to monitor older children, Mankewich said....***

It was a special needs child. They have video tape but they don't want to do anything for the child.

If they're not going to suspend or fire him, then they need to hire a monitor for HIM.
Sweep it under the carpet until more children are hurt. The "do it for the children" means nothing.

A friend with a retarded, mute son told me that she stopped sending him to school when he was molested on the school bus...this was some years ago. He was going to a state sponsored facility to learn something basic in order to become self supporting. (And that goal was never in the cards since he had bad seizures and the mental age of three.) He was molested by another handicapped boy and came home bleeding. Horrified, his mother called the school, etc., only to be told this was normal and that the handicapped were entitled to a sex life. (Even if it involved rape.) So he was taken out of school, and she fought the state for months about it. They tried to take custody away from her. This happened some years ago, and attitudes toward rape/molestation have changed.
Is he protected on high by Mass. AG Reilly (defender of child rapists, Democrat, of course)?

That's just awful.
Most people who work with youth and special needs children are wonderful. But there are predators who seek youth venues to find their victims. And special needs children must be an easy target.

Some months ago I posted a note about my granddaughter, who'd been molested, along with eight of her school chums, by the father of one of her friends. This is a long post, and I apologize, but it's an update on the outcome. (The molestation had gone on for four years...the kids had been 6 or 7 when it started.) That daughter had been raped by her dad and on occasion begged her friends not to leave her alone with him.
Finally, one child was brave enough to tell her parents. The man was arrested, and police found a video camera in his daughter's bedroom and the bathroom, he'd taped them at slumber parties and sold the tapes on the internet. (His wife was going to college on the proceeds.) She claimed to know nothing, the daughter, terrified...doubtless threatened by her father, was furious that her friends had gone to the police.
At school...this is a small town...an assembly was held, kids were informed about it in a sketchy way...no names. No bullying was to occur. But of course, in short order, everyone knew who had been molested, bullying and name calling resulted. The victims were victimized all over again. The daughter of the fiend attacked my granddaughter and others in the hall, screaming that they'd ruined her life. (Is the hair standing up on the back of your neck yet!)
The justice system plodded on. He made bail, was ordered to live in another town with his brother...who had no kids. (The police wouldn't reveal where he was for fear the parents would kill him.) The fiend was on disability and fixed wheelchairs...thus having access to the handicapped and vulnerable. Soon he was back fixing wheelchairs in area schools, and lo and behold, was caught redhanded attempting to rape a mute, wheelchairbound little girl. So he was ordered to move. Again.
He went to trial two weeks ago. My granddaughter, who'd gone to all the pretrial hearings (shaking in her shoes), and been glared at by the fiend, finally wrote a letter to the judge, detailing what had happened and asking that she not have to testify in court...she was terrified of this man. The judge, outraged by what she'd revealed, gave him ten years for what he'd done to her, and another ten year sentence for the other charges. Sentences to run consecutively. He's now officially a third level sex offender.
Hopefully, he'll never get out on parole, but at least he's behind bars, and my granddaughter is thrilled. The other victims didn't show up in court since their parents felt the kids had gone through enough. My granddaughter's presence was vital, not only because it affected the outcome, but she stood up for her rights -- a hard lesson, but invaluable.
She went to more meetings with the D.A.'s office than you can shake a stick at. The other girls stopped coming after the outburst at school, but my granddaughter went to each and every one, as well as all the court hearings. (The defense tactic of postponing as many hearings as possible to wear down the witnesses...they get tired of coming and eventually don't show up...works pretty well.) If she hadn't gone to all those hearings, he might have plea bargained down to a few years and gotten out in even less time. He's learned one lesson, not to leave witnesses, so if and when he ever gets out, next time maybe he'll kill his victims.
