I was at the Lansing announcement. Standing Room only there too, and that's impressive considering he's not from the Lansing area. As a white guy, I was a "minority" there, which is rare for a republican event(or political event), and it wasn't just the black republicans I see at political events which is good to see.

I'm impressed at the organization I've seen from his campaign, especially this early. The GOP leaders in Michigan were at the Lansing event, so they are taking his race seriously as well.

I saw this in his campaign lit today.

"Pro-Second Amendment. I strongly support Americans' right to bear arms."

He's also supportive of strict constitutionalist judges and tort reform.

BTW - Who put Bart Baron in the keywords? He ran as a democrat in 04 against Knollenberg.

thanks for the info....

I'm new to Michigan and never heard of the guy until I heard him speak at Bush's campaign in Pontiac stadium. He gave the greatest speech I ever heard about how the Republican party is the party of civil rights from Abraham Lincoln to the civil rights movement. He just nailed the issue.

However, to my dismay my fellow campaigners at the Bush headquarters in Plymouth didn't even know his name (when I asked), and didn't even listen to the speech. The Michigan GOP is in bad shape, I hope they realize the value of a Keith Butler in their party!

We're going to be hearing a lot more about Keith Butler. He is the real deal.

I asked him about his stance on the FairTax legislation. Following is his answer:

"I believe that we need massive tax reform. The fair tax is one reform measure. I don't think the American people will support it as proposed, but, something along those lines is possible, I hope to be part of this reform.
Keith Butler"

I think he needs to become more familiar with the bill and it could be a big winner for him. If he were to make the "job growth" side of it clear he could pull the UAW votes.
