So a grown man who dresses like a woman can use a woman's bathroom, but when I took my 7 year old son into the ladies restroom I caught hell from some of the idiot-types on here for emasculating my son.......sheesh....
My boss's wife works for a major national chain store. The other day one of the toilets in the men's room overflowed and she had to call the plumber. They went into the men's room so she could show him which toilet needed his work and when she turned around he was peeing in the urinal!
Not sure if the plumber is just an ignorant idiot or he is disgruntled with the not uncommon practice of women in men's bathrooms and he figured he'd give her the logical consequences of that action.
"And yes, when I see a man dressed like a girl I point and laugh. I encourage my children to mock these clowns, as well."
Really? Well, that sucks, IMO. I don't care about transvestites and transgendered folks all that much. They rarely have any impact on my life. But, to single out anyone for ridicule and mockery is wrong on a number of levels.
Teaching your children to do the same is even worse. As long as these folks are not interfering in your life, why not just leave them alone?
On another note, you put your children in danger when you do this. Not all cross-dressers are rational people. A few (a tiny percentage) have bigger mental problems. I think encouraging your children to mock anyone is dangerous.
You're doing the right thing. Anyone who would allow their child to use a public restroom by themselves in this day and age is just a bad parent.

Such people are stupid if they gave you hell for that. There's no way I'd let a 7-year-old boy use any public restroom alone. You were right to take him into the women's restroom. Those who castigated you for it are just plain stupid.
Basically. It's plumb obvious how easily this thing can be abused.
Must we change the sign to read "Hangy down things" and "No Hangy down things"?
Is this society that stupid?
Don't answer that.
The recognition of differences between Saxons and Bantus is not artificial. The classification of all people with dark skin from Africa as members of a single "race" is.
As the author (correctly in this case) states, "black" Africans vary enormously. Choosing out a single characteristic, skin color, to separate them as a group from all other humans is a highly artificial concept.

Remind me to stay away from the state of New York.
Now, THAT's pithy!
..And California. And Floriduh
Central and mountain states are where its at.
A large percentage of these individuals are also prostitutes with drug problems to boot.
You should teach your kids to simply ignore and avoid such characters altogether.
Well, that DOES concisely point out the ultimately defining difference...
".....over time, the men's and women's designations on restrooms may come to be seen by all as mere suggestions. That in itself would not be tragic......."
Maybe it wouldn't be tragic in most cases, but just wait until we have a case of a man who dresses up as a woman to facilitate restroom rapes. In the meantime, I guess we ladies will have to look out for ourselves, since the government and restaurant proprieters no longer think our privacy is worth defending.
He should just do it in his own, transgendered panties!
"Take my hand,
I'm a stranger in......."
A while back, I knew this girl who could....No, stop. It's too early on monday for that story. Sorry.
