You can give advice to her, as well.

You don't have to give it to me. I could attend an Old Rite daily Mass if I wish. In this Archdiocese that's established and has support.

The fact that you apparently don't, speaks volumes.

Say, did you know that the poor and the powerful of the earth rubbed shoulders to say their last goodbye to Pope John Paul on Friday as the Vatican staged one of the most momentous funerals in history for the Polish Pontiff?

Not the way I'd hoped Condi's knuckles would meet Chirac's chin.

>> Not just priests, probably a Patriarch or Archbishop and some Metropolitans. <<

I was very moved by the presence of EVERY Patriarch of Christendom joining the funeral mass. But they were also wearing their full dress, including tiaras. By their plain black vestments, I believe the priests in the photo were (pardon the use of the word) "mere" priests.

I believe the Pope is shown feet-first. Isnt the narrow end always the feet?

Funny how the death of JPII seems to bring out the "best" in so many of you people.

My sarcasm sensor is going off. Did I misstate something, accidentally give offense, or demonstrate my ignorance of something? If so, please do correct me.

scanning for what could have been taken wrong:

"EVERY patriarch of Christendom.": Not excluding anyone from Christendom. All Patriarchs of Catholic and Orthodox and hey, even the Arbchbishop of Canterbury were there.

"full dress... tiara.": No ridicule meant by this description. By "full dress," I mean wearing the highest ceremonial vestments. And "tiara" is a Latin word for both male and female crowns, so I was not demeaning anyone's masculinity. The papal "crown" is rightfully called a "tiara." I said "tiara" rather than "crown," because I did not mean that anyone was showing off any temporal power, since "crown" suggests that in the West.

It appears that way to me. It's the traditional positioning for burying a clergyman. For the laity it's the other way around.

Turbans, fezzes, yarmulkes, black lace veils, or mantillas, joined the "zucchettos," or skull caps, of Catholic prelates on the steps of St. Peter's in an extraordinary mix of religious and government leaders from around the world.

Ping!

Good morning! Did you see the cardinals at the pope's tomb this morning? Are you up with the boys or up for work?

So much for 'sola scriptura'.

That's a rather limp straw man.

Few Protestants and evangelicals insist on NOT looking into the original sources of the Biblical words. I know, a few are hung up over King James (like the Catholics were hung up over the Vulgate), but most understand the need.
