Oh my---Laura Bush looks like she is going to cry--as I did when President Bush described how JPII ascent to power swept democracy into Eastern Europe.

Right on the cusp between the two days. How fitting is that!?

Actually, a priest reminded me, since the sun had set in Rome (it was 9:27pm), it was Divine Mercy Sunday when he died.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

What a lovely tribute you created, CitizenM. Thank you. Pope John Paul is now walking beside the Lord he loves. Bless him for his faithful service to God and his teaching by example to man.

I agree with what you said.

I told my mother-in-law this morning that with the Pope in the world, it made me feel safe. I can't help but now feel a sense of dread.

Although I am so happy he is with Our dear Lord and not suffering anymore.

Our family prays for the repose of this great Shepherd of Christ's message. May his message live long in our hearts and in the actions of our daily lives.

President Bush just called Pope John Paul II as a "hero for the ages". Amen.

Yes, Laura was having a bit of trouble holding it back. I thought she would burst into tears. She has better control than I do.

The two brave men who destroyed the seemingly impregnable Communist Empire of Europe, liberating 300 million people!!!

Yep. Guided by principles rooted deeply in the truth. We (mankind) are blessed when men of such character represent or lead us, and are duti-bound to reject those who, with so much ease, effortlessly portray a false image of the world around us.

Rome and Italy are still tonight. Everything commercial, events, etc. are closed in mourning and respect. Oh, I long to be there or in Poland.

May he truly rest in peace. He defended life and helped bring down the Iron Curtain; and for his passionate defense of Terri Schindler-Schiavo, I will be grateful eternally. God bless him.
