my husband said that kimchee is buried in crocks in the ground until it ferments and that it has a horrid smell... he didn't eat it, in fact he did his best to avoid people that ate it.

I'm surprised the "God's Punishment" types haven't commented on this quake being centered near an island (Nias) with hundreds of thousands of Protestant Christians.

God Speaks through Earthquakes - not a 'God's Punishment' article, just a sign of the second coming article. They're typin' as fast as their fingers will let them.

Oh, this stuff is infinitely modifiable for the kooks....they just say it's punishing the Bible Belt for not taking strong enough action against Abortion or gays or whatever....

Oh, you actually mean they take a good look at themselves and try and figure out what they are doing wrong??? How weird.

The area might have dodged the tsunami bullet.. this time.

AP:

"It seems this earthquake did not trigger a tsunami. If it had, the tsunami would have hit the coastline of Sumatra by now," said Prihar Yadi, a scientist with the Indonesia Geophysics Agency. "And if there's no tsunami on the coastline near the epicenter of the quake, there will not be one heading in the other direction."

The energy from the quake was generated in a southerly direction, said Eddie Bernard, a tsunami expert and director of the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle, in an interview with CNN. That direction is away from area struck on Dec. 26.

Mine was stationed there from 2000-2001. I had a heart attack while on a tour of the DMZ at 38!

Keep in mind, this guy also defends the notion that abortion reduces crime.

Obviously, calling people of faith "kooks" at every turn serves his overall agenda.

Oh, you actually mean they take a good look at themselves and try and figure out what they are doing wrong??? How weird.

It's blatantly obvious to any rational person that natural disasters are not any sort of punishment for human sins. For one thing, there isn't the slightest pattern of the more evil being punished more, and for another, from geological and meteorological research we know that this quakes, hurricanes, etc. have been occuring where they were occuring before humans even existed or lived in these areas.

The basic problem is you have a lot of people with a very childish and primitive view of religion who haven't directly faced and deeply thought about the "when bad things happen to good people" problem.....

A fact indeed, and no major melees after being, elbowed, ran over by shopping carts, etc., pretty much explains why he gave us a sense of humor, as well.

"Liar" may be a more valid term than "kook" for people like Truth666, for example.
