I'm not so sure that'd been Reagan's style...if anything, maybe the Gipper wouldda brought this issue to the fore long before Terri was at death's door. It's a shame all this public outcry only started after the feeding tube was removed.
FReegards...MUD
A woman is dying and they're talking about cruelty to chickens. Try running that through the brain a few times.
Do you really think so? I love the Gipper, but wouldn't his Conservative ideology prevented him from acting as POTUS? As fer his action as Governor, I reckon I'd haveta see how the CA laws read
Reagan may have respected the laws but would have been in front of the cameras, despite his advisers, speaking out against this. I simply have no doubt about that. He wouldn't have rested until he had truly "done all I can do" and that wouldn't have been until it was too late to save Terri.
TigersEye,
At the very least (and I think there's much more) the President has a bully pulpit to speak from. His silence now is deafening and illustrative.
You forgot "pathetic" and "sad." He has NOT "done all I can do." It appears he wants everyone to believe that though. He should be screaming from the rooftops, if he has the courage of his convictions.
In fact, sadly, yesterday, I detected a distinct White House effort to change the subject to our foreign policy efforts regards Afghanistan. I'd love to know which "Christian conservative" was behind that one (Rove), so I could properly address how much I despise that hypocritical posture.
Can a President unilaterally end an air traffic controller's strike? Can a President order the 101st Airborne in to Arkansas to protect school children from the National Guard and the Governor? Can a President have his Attorney General send Federal Marshals and FBI agents to Alabama and Mississippi to intervene and investigate the affairs of those States?
bttt
I remember Ronald Reagan's presidency.
"Will there be testimony before they decide, or will it just be discussing AMONG themselves???????"
I am not sure how they will do this....anyone know the bill #?
Michael's brother feels that Terri sent him a girlfriend. The Schiavo clan is crazy.
Folks, I am wondering if it's even going to be introduced...we have not heard conclusively that anyone would bring it.
The WH comment line has now gone back to its regular 9-5 hours. A week ago they were open and jammed 24/7. It seems the WH has heard enough from us peasants.
IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA:
TERRI'S SIGNATURE REQUIRED, NO EXCEPTIONS, FOR THE FOLLOWING:
--For Terri to obtain a Florida Drivers License
--For Terri to purchase a house in Florida
--For Terri to serve on a jury
--For Terri to get a replacement Social Security Card
--For Terri to proceed to the voting booth to vote for Governor or State Senators
--For Terri to receive any winnings from the Florida State Lottery
TERRI'S SIGNATURE NOT REQUIRED:
--For the State to Murder her without any arrest, formal capital charges, trial, or conviction, upon the consent and opinion of third party
I'm sure of it. We no longer have the concept of "public servant".
tell us another one. blah, blah, blah.
silly me.... I was asking that they meet last night, or earlier than planned this am, in compassion for Terri.
silly, silly me. where are my priorities?
As an American I have never felt so vulnerable. We're on our own. Thank God for God.
Bend some ears, JJ!
But.....are there any GOOD GUYS in there??
You cad...to suggest they interrupt their quest to save the chickens by meeting early in the day to save a dying woman. Tsk.
What's really ironic is that they were talking about Holocaust Memorial Day early on in the session. It's just talk...they have no idea what they're talking about.
