Sorry I am late to the party, but I still wanted to post on this issue. Here is what I posted on my blog, The California High School Conservative Blog

"Some Democrats in the California Legislature want to repeal the requirement that students pass the California High School Exit Exam before they can graduate. This test is administered to students beginning in their Sophomore year. I will take it next year, and probably pass on the first try as most students do. But I talked to some students who took it this year, and here are some questions very similar to those on the test:
What is wrong with this sentence: "We is going to the movies."
and for math: find x: 13+x=27. If these High School Seniors can't answer questions about what they should have learned in middle school or even before, why do they deserve a diploma?"
