Discussing yes; and I wasn't aware that Tancredo had submitted a plan this year.

The latest poll is about IMMIGRATION, period.
It's just to prove that nobody on here is for open borders, like you all continue to say.

Funny how the same people that scream about more enforcement have their
painties in a wad over, " Amendment would fund 2,000 border agents"
Me thinks the problem is this platform and they don't want it taken away.

Tancredo hasn't submitted anything this year that I've seen. There seems to be a lot percolating beneath the surface in the House. David Dreier has also said that his first choice would be a plan that required illegals to return home before applying.

Just to clear up my misconception then, you also think that 70 percent of the people on this forum support some sort of Guest Worker's plan? Whereas the latest poll says otherwise?First, the 70% figure is in error, the real number is 59.7%. I think it would be helpful if Howlin would concede that point.
Second, I'm one of the 60%, just as Tom Tancredo would be if he was a member of this forum.

Call up your senator's office; talk to a staffer; if they are honest, they're going to tell you nothing is going to pass unless it's a worker's program because the "will" just isn't there.
I simply say that we should at least TRY to get what we can get; if Bush's plan were to pass, at least after a deadline, anyone found in the country would be deported immediately. And you should sure as heck tell who was employing them.......LOL.

And I only counted members because I don't care about people who log off and vote.

KAA: Is English YOUR first language?
Howlin's point is clear: she counted ONLY member opinion.
Know why?
Because our polls can be "tweaked" by non-members; just like we "FReep" other on line polls.

They can also be tweaked by MEMBERS who log off and play like they're not a member.

The Bush plan won't pass, it's political poison. Besides, Hastert and Sensenbrenner won't even let it out of committee.
I don't see anything stopping a guest worker plan like Tancredo, DeLay, and Dreier prefer, if the President supports it. That's a big "if" at this date, but if Bush would make that compromise with Tancredo, he'd get the House Immigration Caucus votes, and I don't see McCain, Cornyn, Hagel, and Craig digging in their heals against it in the Senate.

Bush doesn't have a "plan" per se; he's put his thoughts out there for the people who actually make the legislation to deal with and decide what they WILL pass. He expects it to get tweaked.
What I'm saying is something along those lines.

The difference between the Bush and Tancredo plans is more than just a tweak, it's really the source of the division. Any plan that advocates legalizing millions of illegal aliens, such as the President currently has proposed, is DOA in the House. That's why it was encouraging that Bush was at least receptive to DeLay.

Based on the size of the border from San Diego to the Gulf of Mexico...the job requires at least 20,000 additional border guards. And they need to be armed and as capable as the US military is today. And personally, I'd assign the job to the coast guard and tell them to modify to cover both land and sea. There is no reason why they couldn't do that...plus they are already structured as a military organization anyway. And I'd ensure they have all of the intelligence devices (sensors, blimps, radar, etc)...that would be required.

If this "KAA: Is English YOUR first language?" wasn't an attack then please except my apology. If it was, well then I did the right thing.
