My son applied for a job with American Axel.......first civilian job after serving his country for four years under X42.

The union guy sitting in on the interview says to him.....what the hell do you know, you're too young to know anything.

Son was offered a job with a good salary too.

TURNED IT DOWN FLAT.

Took a job with another company with a little better attitude!

One quote from the responses to the article:

In 1967, while selling industrial electronic test equipment, I was being escorted through a Chrysler, alternator plant by a manufacturing engineer. We passed a test carousel where finished alternators were stressed. I watched a UAW worker take an alternator which had just failed in a shower of sparks and place it back on the conveyor as passed, grinning at us as he did so. I asked the enginer about it. He said, "He does that a lot. Thinks it's funny. We can't do a thing about that idiot because of the UAW. But I am hard at work to automate that station and put him and his buddies there on the street. That is my goal for this year." A year later that carousel was automated. No grinning sabotuers present. Since then not much has improved within the UAW and their membership is less than one half of 1967. For good reason.

That sums up my understanding of what unions have done and continue to do for America. Hope they continue to implode.

I agree. It is sweet. Because very few in our society stand up to this kind of petty, vindictive behavior.

Put the Marine (and the bumper sticker business-which is truly moronic) aspect of it aside for the sake of discussion. It's bad PR for the UAW to act like this towards import car owners. And it makes no sense. I am going to buy my car based on the combination of price, quality and suitability to my particular needs.

I no longer buy GM because of my experiences with the last two GM products I owned. Nothing to do with the UAW per se. Quality did not measure up to my standards, the dealership fell short in several significant ways, and GM treated me like crap on a serious safety problem with my last vehicle.

If the UAW is interested in having me be a Detroit customer, the union needs to use its clout to push GM to design better cars, provide better customer responsiveness and work with GM to market these cars at competitive prices. If the union must give a little to accomplish this, then they need to do it.

I am not buying crap for the sake of being supportive of GM or the union. They both share the responsibility for the end product. Put up or shut up.

And for their information, I do not make and keep my customers by insulting them or calling them stupid for not buying my products. Yeah, I am in sales.

What they keep forgetting to mention is; the UAW said any cars with Bush/Cheney bumper stickers couldn't park there!

So... if a misguided miscreant were to go thru this UAW lot with a few hundred "W '04" stickers...

Not that I would ever advocate vandalism, mind you.

Evading to Mercedes Benz is futile, as their full name is Daimler Chrysler.
Chrysler or fully: "Daimler Chrysler" is union."

I should have said,Made in Germany Humvees.
Let them keep their parking space & union president, just cancell all government contracts with the UAW and give the orders to others.

True.

Liberals just keep wrecking the USA.

True again.

So very. True.

These guys are so stupid...I am in the process of shopping for a new car and was feeling like I should really try hard to find an American car that I like. But now if a foreign car proves the best deal I will not have any bad feelings about that at all.

What these MORONS from the union are saying is, in effect, that that even if the foreign autos are of a better quality, Americans OWE it to the unions to keep them employed by paying more and getting less.

I have a question. Why is this under political cartoons? I don't see anything humerous about this

I put this under Extended News.. Some Moderator decided to be funny and move it to an inappropriate forum.

To: cyclotic; doug from upland

I thought your ditty was very well done. The tune, "Take This Job and Shove It", by Johnny Paycheck was a big hit around 1974/75 on the country western stations and then hit the pop chart stations and became very popularnationwide because it was an easy song to relate to.

I smile when I hear it, because as a college age young man working in a machine shop putting myself through college I remember when that song came on the three radios blaring in our shop over the noise of the machines, everyone stopped and sang along--it was a great stress reliever and was enjoyed by all.

Doug, do you think there is some merit in expanding what cyclotic has started here?

Oh, and concerning the article, the UAW has learned a lesson that America's enemies get to learn only one time---you only get to screw with the Marines once.

God bless our Marines, and screw the UAW!
