What a heartbreaking story.

I was explaining the therapy and ethics behind the therapy for ectopics, so that those who are against treatment for tubals would understand better.

However, the CDC does not count the treatment for ectopic pregnancies in with abortions.

And they are certainly not "elective" abortions. They are, as you have said, done to protect the life of the mother. But, if the doc found that the diagnosis was wrong (i.e.,there is no ectopic, but an intrauterine pregnancy and some other cause for the pain and hemorrhage), he would not hunt down the baby in the uterus.

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

This woman laid down her life for her child. According to Jesus Christ's teaching, no one feels greater love than the love she showed.

your first friend sacrificed her life for her child, and your second may. That is part of "choice," too. I don't know if I'd be that Christ-like.

Your adversaries here tonight in this debate have the advantage of detached rationality. They have some combination of either being shamefully blind to the apocalyptic horror mass abortion is, or even more monstrously, they simply don't care. Like the spectators in the Roman circuses, they see the blood all around them as sport for their entertainment.

If there is an issue of clear good and evil in our day, abortion is it. Anyone who can even begin to understand the true terror of this abomination will be unable to discuss it calmly. We must remember that ultimately no words alone can soften their hearts on this most critical issue, that grace can only come from the Lord. Pray for them.

On the other hand, what do all our soldiers, firemen, and policemen do every day?

I have never heard W refer to pro-life as "the other side".

Talk about moving the goal posts! Her stated position (so far) is as close to his as possible as enumerated here multiple times, yet now unless Bush has said some magic words she is for abortion and he is against it. Sheesh. She said it should be "as rare as possible" whereas Bush only said it should be "more rare."

that would be nice but I have not seen any demographic voting pattern change despite all the hype in November.

A) Blacks still voted about 90% Dem

B) Jews did not change much...a hair maybe..especially younger

C) 18-25 voted like the idiots they are (or I was ..lol)

D)Hispanics not counting Cubans voted about like in 00 contrary to the hype first expounded later to be refuted though still used here.

I'm not optimistic. The Dems are more solid than us precisely because of their demographics and the fact those demographics are growing faster than ours.

Without middle aged Southern and Rocky Mountain predominately white Christian males and our wives (with children) it would be over. It's that simple. The Blue states are sewn up for except maybe Pennsylvania or NH.

I think we have nothing to gain by running a centrist or social liberal. The exit polls said as much on the values question.

We run as who we are, not as Scoop Jackson Dems.

Ridiculous... do you even know what mildly pro choice means as defined by Condi Rice?"""

It has to mean, willing to let people kill unborn babies. That's what "pro choice" means in today's lexicon. Being "mildly pro choice" means, literally, "mildly" being in favor of the killing of unborn babies. Sorry, but I prefer politicians who aren't in favor of the killing of unborn babies.

Because you posted that your friend was being "poisoned," and I was trying to think of a disease that a doctor might have described as "poisoning" by the child. Toxemia of pregnancy is described that way.

I would like to know the diagnosis if you ever find out, without causing your friend any further pain. (due to a medical interest in what docs say, how it is interpreted or understood by patients.)

My goodness, you'd throw out a reasoned intelligent candidate over one issue?"""

Yes. If she was reasoned and intelligent, but happened to support segretation, that's "one issue" that would be a deal breaker; or if she was intelligent and reasoned -- but antisemitic -- that's a "one issue" deal breaker; also if she's ok with the killing of unborn babies - - that's a deal breaker. It's also worth noting that a "pro choice" Republican is unlikely to give us good strong conservative judges. Gerald Ford didn't - - he nominated the ultra liberal Stevens to the Supreme Court.

My second friend angers me, because she plans to abort when her life is in crisis - making it a sick mid-term abortion.

The first didn't do it out of Christ-like love, but a twisted sense of piety.

I'm with you - I couldn't look my sons in the eyes and tell them I'm going to die so they can have a baby brother or sister. I love them too much to put them last and hurt them so deeply. I would also expect them to grow up resenting me and what I stood for.

Hispanics moved 6% to Bush, just like Jews, twice the national swing. And it is the swing that counts. Cheers. Folks in my little cohort moved rather significantly against Bush. Sad. And so it goes.

The ISSUES are not just abortion."""

It's one of the biggest. A make of break for a lot of the GOP faithful. The only reason the GOP is the majority party today is that it brought in the evangelical, cultural conservatives of the South and Midwest who used to be Democrats. If the GOP nominates a pro-choicer, you can kiss a lot of them goodbye - - and Hillary gets to choose the drapes at the White House.
