It doesn't mention it so I really don't know.
I think if the other racers don't mind I won't either... your post that complained of GHWBush shouldn't jump out of airplanes either makes me think you have a busy-body tendency about other people's business :~D
Of course. I know there was a controversy. I'll try to find the article.
According to the TV...there is a lead sled in front of her with a radio back to warn of hazards that you'd need vision to see. I'm not sure if the lead sled is guiding or not. All the other work is done by Rachael, such as dog care, camp set up and of course mushing!
Rules were relaxed for her, but not much. However, my opinion of her competing increased when she gave up her drawn place at the start so she could be last and not get in the way of any real competition. That said, I would prefer a second category of "running but not competing".

I live in Eagle River and can see Checkpoint #1 from my house. Beautiful place.
Does it surprise you that there appears to be a wide variety of types rather than specialized purebreds?
Fantastic link, HTOD!! I will bookmark this for next year.
I have no such tendency. I am being practical. Me and Florence King who is my spiritual sister in these matters.
How cool! Freepmail me about where you are and we can find out if you know Mr. Okie.
" In races, guides have to ride with her because she can't see. People think this is an advantage. Guides can only tell her where to go and where trees are and things like that. I think it's a disadvantage, because your dogs have to pull more weight."
I agree that doesn't appear to be an advantage at all.
But I guess any dog can be acclimated and trained for it.
But you and whoever your friend is, are 'being practical' about ~other~ people's choices in life. That's a busybody. :~D
I have found that you generally like to be contentious with me after we had a disagreement a few months ago.
Which disagreement was that? Sorry you think that. I am talking issues, it's not personal at all...

Sled dog missing in Suburbia
10:40 PM PST on Friday, March 4, 2005
BELLEVUE, Wash. By now, Boris the Siberian sled dog was supposed to be in Alaska, getting accustomed to new owners and preparing to run in next year's Iditarod sled-dog race.
Instead, he might be wandering around the suburbs east of Seattle.
KING
Have you seen Boris?
Boris was staying with a friend of his owners on Mercer Island for a few days on the trip between his previous home, in Walla Walla, and his new home in Alaska, Bellevue police spokesman Michael Chiu said Friday.
But he escaped on Tuesday and, although unfamiliar with urban environments, made it off Mercer Island via the I-90 bike path into downtown Bellevue.
He was last seen Friday at the Bellevue Galleria and at the QFC on 26th Street. He may be trying to get across I-405 to start the long journey back home.
Boris is described as a black and white Siberian Husky with a graying muzzle and no tags. He's described as very shy, but friendly and harmless, but easily spooked.
It's best to lure him with food rather than lunge at him.
There is a reward for the safe return of Boris. If you happen to spot him, call 206-369-2311.
I'm sorry if I misconstrued. I am referring to the story of the 17 Yo who was supposed to have overpowered a grown man. I am not projecting, either. You have been different toward my posts since then.
