I am a right-wing nut-job and I believe that the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is long overdue.
They had been digging under the Temple mount to see if the arc of the Covenant was there. The Islamofascist raised a stink and they stopped. That's the last I hear. supposedly that was causing structural problem.
It would be most fitting for Catholics the world over to destory that mosque for the desecration of the Cathedral of the Assumption commited by muslims a few years ago.

Well, there are lies, damn lies, and then there are the "islamic press."
Talk about projection... Jewish settlers are going to storm the temple mount an perform Jewish Rituals? Hmmm... Let's see... Over and over again, islamists take over and destroy holy sites of other religions, and then erect mosques over them, claiming them as their own holy sites...
"Scores" of historians dispute that that mosque is built on the Temple Mount? Yeah... Right... Well, I suppose that you can find lots of historians that will claim whatever you want. But people still know you're lying.
Israeli rocket attacks on the mosque? Well, this is some of the most direct projection I've seen in quite a while.
And of course, they bring up the ONLY case where a Jew decided to enter a mosque to massacre moslems.... So, that brings the score to what.... about 1000 to 1?

BTW, this has nothing to do with this post, but I happened to see the "rally" in Lebanon for Hezbolla this morning, and I remember thinking that this was quite a target rich environment... How many lives could have been saved with the dropping of a few hundred cluster bombs, or maybe incindiaries.

Actually, it is the Muslims that have been digging under the Mount in an area called Solomon's Stables - to build a huge underground mosque there. That is what is causing a lot of unstability. Many say that it may well cause a collapse of the whole structure and may be the reason for a bulge on the outer wall.
Several years ago, Israel did dig out a tunnel on the OUTSIDE of the retaining wall and found some pretty cool stuff - including a gate into the Temple Mount area.
