As I said in my post, before I went to see this film, I felt like you -- I was reluctant to see it because I could care less about female boxing, or any kind of boxing for that matter.

But, again, it's not a "boxing" movie. In fact, I walked away thinking it was one of the best movies I've personally ever seen, and I've seen a lot of movies.

Ok...I buy that.....but.....

...the commercial tv clips that made me want to see the Dirty Harry flicks and other Eastwood gems were missing on this one.

All I saw was Clint hanging around the ring with his Tonya Harding hit-broad!

I don't know his position on abortion, though I believe he is prochoice. The movie isn't about euthenasia; the movie is about a man who lost one person to death, and now, in a huge irony, HELPS another person he cares about kill herself. That's drama. It's not a billboard saying this is good or this is bad; it's a dramatic story showing how this man wrestles with his soul and basically gives it up to benefit another (as he sees it). And as Eastwood says in the interview, the priest is correct--Eastwood's character is not BUT we all make wrong choices sometimes for the "right" reasons. THAT is the point of his decision.

One has to completely twist the evidence right there in the movie to say this is a pro-euthenasia movie. If that were the "right" position the choice the character makes would be shown as a good, right decision. Instead, it's similar to the one in Unforgiven; in Unforgiven he chooses to return to his evil ways; here, he chooses to sacrifice his soul for another's benefit.

I'm sick of arguing this point with people (not you, as you didn't take this position) who refuse to see what's RIGHT THERE in the movie and need everything spoon-fed to them.

The only boxing film I want to see is the upcoming "Cinderella Man" starring Russell Crowe and Renee Zellweiger (spelling?).

I was just wondering about all the "stuff" over this movie. People due tend to get all bent over every little thing. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to rent it to see what the big deal is. Thanks.

Thanks. I am looking forward to seeing MDB now...

It seems like there's a certain segment of conservatives that are becoming just like the left-wing victim lobby. With the lefties, they cry "RACISM!", "HOMOPHOBIA!", etc., at the drop of the hat. On the flipside of the coin, we hear "ANTI-CHRISTIAN!", "PRO-DEATH!", etc.

In both cases, these shouts are supposed to foreclose any rational discussion of the subject at hand.

You hit it on the head. If I were to limit my reading and movie viewing to only things which reflect my point of view, I wouldn't be a conservative, as I was a liberal until I read things I didn't agree with at the time; and I probably wouldn't see ANY movies. Who wants to just see movies that repeat back one's own thoughts and ideas?
