Why did Jeb lead the charge/assault against Ward Connerly and his anti-racial preferences referendum in FL?Nice fact twist. Anti-affirmative action was his claim to fame and they both rejoiced in the loud opposition.
As for "charge/assault", either I missed that episode or 2001 (when OneFlorida was in its hayday and Kalifornica businessman Connerly was making noise) had an overshadowing news happenstance.
So tell me again why you say JEB is FOR affirmative action??? Try not to phrase your answer as a question.

Well, considering the WOT is the most important item in the news day in and day out, don't you think that you are being just a little hard on Bush, then? I mean, he had to go from working on an agenda that he talked about and planned on for 18 months during the campaign and election of 2000, then---
In the space of what 20 or so minutes, his whole focus of his agenda had to shift 108 degrees---
You mentioned that you appreciated the better "values" so to speak of his White House vs. the Clintons---but if you think about it, it wasn't just the sex thing, but Clinton wasn't paying attention to the world around us and LET 9/11 get to the operational point it did on 9/11/01!!
And, after today in Lebanon and the weekend with Mubarek talking about election in Egypt, you CANNOT say that Bush's Doctrine hasn't made a postive change begin in the Middle East!

"First of all, there is still a need to end preferences in Florida because, regretfully, Governor Jeb Bushs One Florida Initiative is woefully inadequate as it leaves, untouched, state law and local policies that give preferences on the basis of race and gender. Preferences and other forms of race-conscious policies simply have been restructured under One Florida."

Would I sound like an owl if I said "who" twice?
Better to sound like an owl asking 'who? who?', than to sound like a psychotic owl that sez 'why? why?'
General Tommy Franks: SHOULD be a household name.
John Cornyn: admittedly, not a high profile figure, but check out his recent speech in the well of the Senate, regarding the 'Rat obstruction of Bush judicial nominees:

I'm telling you, that is the kind of man that has the vision and understanding to be President.

I totally agree with you on these issues. I give credit to Bush where he deserves credit.
This being said, I cannot and will not ignore his domestic agenda which has resulted in bigger government controlling more of our lives. When government grows, it is to the detriment of freedom. Under Bush, government has grown faster than it has in an entire generation. In fact, the only veto Bush has even threatened is to protect more bigger government.
I see Jeb as more of the same.

September 4, 2001: Two years after abolishing affirmative action programs for minority-owned companies, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said on Tuesday they are now getting an unprecedented share of state spending. Flanked by charts and minority business owners, Bush said data from his budget office showed that jettisoning set aside programs and quotas have not, as critics had predicted, undermined minority business competing for the nearly $15 billion in goods and services purchased every year by the state. See article Minorities' Share of Florida Business Said Growing.

I happen to like Jeb Bush a lot but when I think about it, nothing where I lived for nearly 20 years improved under him. Well, I think he did away with auto exhaust emissions testing, which was a joke. But the core of the state is still rotten.

When Jeb entered office, the SUS was still using race as factor in admissions. Connerly rode in and tried to force Jeb to go by his own plan, which didn't have widespread support at the time. Jeb set up his One Florida or "Talented 20" plan, which eliminated race based initiatives. It was a huge success against affirmative action, and really shouldn't be viewed as anything else.
Also, Jeb and the House Republicans have refused to raise taxes, even when revenues were severely hurt after 9/11. They did what all conservatives should do when they take in less money; they tightened the budget and spent less. Jeb also supports tort reform and a $250,000 cap on non-economic damages, and he has refused to give into the Senate RINOs and the trial bar. He is revamping the Medicaid program to cut costs. He helped pass a special bill just for Terri Schiavo. How is he a RINO?

"Florida should adopt its own urban HUBZone program as a fresh alternative to existing minority contracting programs that use legally suspect racial preferences. Like the federal program, Floridas program should be narrowly tailored to cover our Front Porch communities and other truly disadvantaged urban communities, and should require business owners to create jobs in those communities. Top procurement agents should meet with managers from participating companies to share information concerning business opportunities and the State's bidding procedures. Urban HUBZone businesses would be expected to compete with other companies on price and quality, but would be awarded bonus points in competitive bid scoring because of the community-enriching value of their employment practices. This practice is similar to one presently used by several State agencies, which award bonus points to bidders which structure their bids to include significant minority subcontracting participation. Coupled with aggressive outreach by Front Porch Florida and the Minority Business Advocacy and Assistance Office, this approach should result in more jobs for minorities throughout the State of Florida and increased State contracting with minority business owners without quotas or set asides."--Jeb Bush
Taken from:
http://www.oneflorida.org/myflorida/government/governorinitiatives/one_florida/equity_contracting.html
See any doublespeak here? He can't twist his way out of this one. Giving minority contractors "bonus points" in competitive bidding simply on the basis of the minority status of one of the bidders is a preference.
Oh, yeah, until Jeb renounces his support for giving driver's licenses to illegal aliens, in my book he's a RINO.

He also believes in race based quotas/affirmative action. I live in Florida. Your point concerning Jeb Bush's beliefs about quotas/affirmative action is not true.
You weren't here in Florida for the sit-ins and marches on Tallahassee when Jeb put an end to quotas in state hiring and university admissions. And your evidence is Ward Connerly? Well, I believe Mr. Connerly is a good man, but Jeb is a bit more shrewd than he is.
You can dislike George Bush and/or Jeb Bush. But don't run around spreading lies and half truths. It only makes you look like a media clone.
Keep your tagline though. It helps people put your views in perspective.

McCain never had a real chance to win. McCain was the media's tool to make Bush appear very right wing, making Gore appear more moderate.

Maybe.
I find it suspicious that McCain comes out for a Bush. It's been my thinking he's not too fond of the family.
Anyway, I like Jeb. I like G.W. better. If Jeb wanted to run I'd give consideration since I do NOT support this fanciful notion that we have a "dynasty" when these people are freely elected. That said, he isn't running. I wish people would take him at his word.
I suspect mcCain does take him at his word and wanted to buy points by suggesting a Republican the base likes to balance out his statement about Hillary. meaningless pandering since everyone knows Jeb isn't running, and therefore Jeb is of no threat to McCain's intentions to run.
