Shells from living snails were carbon dated as being 27,000 years old. Science vol. 224, 1984, pp.58-61
Living mollusk shells were dated up to 2300 years old. Science vol. 141, 1963, pp.634-637
And what kind of snails? You could very well get incorret C14 dates if you date things that C14 can't date properly. Were these aquatic snails? If so, then you won't get anything useful from C14 dating. This is already a known limitation of C14 dating, and scientists who use C14 dating keep it in mind.
A freshly killed seal was carbon dated as having died 1300 years ago! Antarctic Journal vol. 6, Sept-Oct. 1971, p211
Again, an aquatic creature. Yes, it's a mammal, but it spends quite a bit of its life in the ocean and its primary diet is seafood. Once again, C14 dating isn't used on such life forms, and it is incredibly dishonest of you to use the fact that a C14-derived "age" for an organism that scientists already know fits a standard for life forms not testable with C14 as "proof" that C14 dating is unreliable.
One part of the Vollosovitch mammoth carbon dated at 29,500 years and another part at 44,000. Troy L. Pewe, Quaternary Strigraphic Nomencature in Uniglaciated Central Alaska, Geologic Survey Professional Paper 832 (U.S. Gov. Printing Office, 1975) p. 30
I was wondering about this one, but it turns out that this particular creationist claim is a flat-out lie.
You hear that, RaceBannon? You are using a
lie to support your claim that evolution is false. I guess, by the reasoning that you used previously, that this PROVES that creationism is false.
(Well, no, it doesn't really, but I was just applying your logic to the situation).
Structure, metamorphism, sedimentary reworking, and other complications have to be considered. Radiometric dating would not have been feasible if the geologic column had not been erected first. J.E. ORourke, Pragmatism vs. Materialism in Stratigraphy, American Jouranl of Science, vol. 276 (January, 1976), p. 54
Now I know that you're just digging quotes out of some creationist trash, without even doing a little bit of fact checking. If you had, you'd see that the quote here is inaccurate. It is deliberately and dishonestly altered from the original by selectively omitting sentences without notice and altering the order in which sentences occur.

Come back when you have an argument that isn't founded upon
lies.

Yes it is true we are out here...but it is more fun to watch you religious evolutionists wiggle on the hook
If by "wiggle on the hook" you mean "expose blatant lies and misrepresentations by creationists", then yes, we are "wiggling on the hook".
To: Dimensio
"LIke I said: creationists lie.""Anthropology now has to revise its picture of modern man between 40,000 and 10,000 B.C.," added Thomas Terberger, an archaeologist at the University of Greifswald. Frankfurt University's president, Rudolf Steinberg, apologized for the university's failure to curb Protsch's misconduct for decades. "A lot of people looked the other way," he said.
Evidently, lying is not unique one group.
To: Rippin
How exactly can scientists be qualified to evaluate logical arguments if they are not lawyers or logicians?
Why would we expect them to require legal training, when they're not dealing with matters of civil or criminal law? This is a red herring in an attempt to prop up the failed claim of credibility for Philip Johnson.
As for logic; any biologist who does not have even some formal understanding of logic is probably not going to go far.

Shubi, you should thank the Good Lord that we are both at FR at the same time. I am going to make you a better Christian by teaching you humility, compassion and respect your fellow man.

That man put the bones of an ape like creeature next to an ape like creature, and said not because of any fact, but because he believes in evolution that therefore, humans looked like pygmy chimps a long time ago! Go boldly where no Creationist as gone before and be honest for once. Admit you never read my post or the article is linked to.

Yes, Protch did a bad thing, and other did a bad thing by overlooking the sloppiness of his work.
I can admit that. Can you admit that Kent Hovind is wrong when he lies?

Tens of thousands of biologists, one is a fraud. Exposed by his colleagues.
A few dozen creationist websites, every one is a foul cesspool of fraud, passionately supported by their fans, never denounced. Looks pretty equal to me.

For years now, people have been saying that since we are just animals, and since the animal kingdom experiences homosexuality, then homosexuality is just an evolutionary event.
And others have said that homosexuality can't be genetic, because evolution would select against it.
Both sides are misapplying science to support an agenda.
I have also posted previous articles on how HITLER used EVOLUTION to defend his arguments,
and also how COMMUNISTS used EVOLUTION to defend their views on Communism.
And that would be why Stalin outlawed the teaching of Darwinian evolution in the USSR?
I wonder why you guys just don't read them, I posted them, even saved some of the links on my home page here.
We do read them. You're confusing "realised that they are dishonest trash" with "not reading".
To: Oztrich Boy
Actually their habitat was pools in limestone rock
I did a bit of digging, and it seems that the faulty dates were most likely caused by carbon in the groundwater in the habitat of the snails.
The paper from which the mined quote was pulled explains this, but for some reason none of the creationist sources that showcase this mind quote mention it. I wonder why...
To: Dimensio
Certainly. I don't like liars, period.
To: Dimensio
But I will add that I often see people characterized as liars when they are simply misinformed or have made a mistake. I have no patience for those who do that either and I'm sure it shows.

Kent Hovind has been caught making the same false claim repeatedly too often to be "misinformed or mistaken".

I wasn't referring to Hovind, I was referring to members who participate in these threads.

In a few weeks, tens of millions of Christians worldwide will go to church and celebrate the resurrection of the Creator. At the same time, Charles Darwin will continue his long dirt nap. I guess this time of year is really tough for you guys.

Do you have an argument, or just a string of non-sequiturs?

In a few weeks, tens of millions of Christians worldwide will go to church and celebrate the resurrection of the Creator And at the very same time hundreds of millions of pagans will celebrate the return of Spring at the Easter Festivals
At the same time, Charles Darwin will continue his long dirt nap.

Abstract
The survival of a human predisposition for homosexuality can be explained by sexual orientation being a polygenetic trait that is influenced by a number of genes. During development these shift male brain development in the female direction. Inheritance of several such alleles produces homosexuality. Single aleles make for greater sensitivity, empathy, tendermindedness, and kindness. These traits make heterosexual carriers of the genes better fathers and more attractive mates. There is a balanced polymorphism in which the feminizing effect of these alleles in heterosexuals offsets the adverse effects (on reproductive success) of these alleles contribution to homosexuality. A similar effect probably occurs for genes that can produce lesbianism in females.
The whole system survives because it serves to provide a high degree of variability among the personalities of offspring, providing the genotype with diversification, and reducing competition among offspring for the same niches. An allele with a large effect can survive in these circumstances in males, but it is less likely to survive in females.
The birth order effect on homosexuality is probably a byproduct of a biological mechanism that shifts personalities more in the feminine direction in the later born sons, reducing the probability of these sons engaging in unproductive competition with each other.

There is also evidence of homosexual activities playing a role in maintaining dominance heirarchies, reinforcing familiarity, and playing other roles in organizing and maintaining the societies of some of the more social animals. While the absolute evolutionary value of homosexuality varies greatly between species, it is certainly common enough to suggest a contribution to fitness, even if not directly measurable.

Evolution and Communism
Another interesting facet of history is the connection between evolution and communism. With communism the struggle of "race" is replaced by the struggle of "class" as history is viewed as an evolutionary struggle.
Both Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were evolutionists before they encountered Darwin's "The Origin of Species" - (Dec 12, 1859) Engels wrote to Marx: "Darwin who I am now reading, is splendid" (Morris 1989, 83 quoting Zirkle). Like Darwin, "Marx thought he had discovered the law of development. He saw history in stages, as the Darwinists saw geological strata and successive forms of life... In keeping with the feelings of the age, both Marx and Darwin made struggle the means of development" (Morris 1989, 83 quoting Borzin). "There was truth in Engel's eulogy on Marx: 'Just as Darwin had discovered the law of evolution in organic nature so Marx discovered the law of evolution in human history'" (Morris 1989, 83 quoting Himmelfarb).
