I can, because "Kill the wabbit" was sung to "Ride of the Valkyries".
Wasn't the Opera "The Barber of Seville", though? Admittedly, I'm not even a novice on that subject so school me. :)

Thanks for the pic
That was one of my favorites.

How many people in here can hear the "Barber of Seville" with out singing to themselves.."Kill da wabbit, KILL DA WABBIT!"?
Do you mean "The Ride of the Valkyries?" In the case of "Barber of Seville," I've seen that short where Bugs basically abuses Elmer's head in the barber shop so many times that I can run it in my head while that classical piece is playing, and I always end up laughing to myself at it.

I think one of my favorites of all-time is "Duck Amok," where the artist (who turns out to be Bugs Bunny) messes with Daffy Duck and his backgrounds ("Where's the scenery!?") thoroughout the entire short.

No. There are at least two different cartoons that take place in operas. One is the "Barber of seville", and one is a Wagner conglomeration based on "Der Ring des Nibelungen" called "What's Opera, Doc?". "What's Opera" is the one that has the famous "Kill the wabbit". The "Barber of Seville" you are thinking of is called "Rabbit of Seville".

And no one can say the phrase, "Spear and magic helmet", even in passing, without a guffaw from me.
It happens more often than you might think.

Nope.
It's "Ride of the Valkyries" from Wagner's Die Walküre.

Remember, these cartoons were before you could put groceries on a credit card! Yuk, Yuk, Yuk.

As a kid, these were my introductions to opera. Also, the Gilligan's Island episode with Phil Silvers as Hollywood producer Harold Hecuba. The castaways put on a musical version of Hamlet, putting the soliloquy to the tune of the Toreador song from Carmen. What a way to learn culture!

So true!! My kids are adults now but if they happen to come over when Bugs Bunny is on they know they better not change the channel. I have collected a few Bugs Bunny items over the years. My kids even give me "Bugs" things for holidays. I have a pair of "Bugs" house slippers! Sometimes I can be a child. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

AngryJawa said: WB "sanitized" all of the old classic Looney Toons years ago of all cartoon violence, stereotyping, and associated un-PC behavior.
Shockingly, they're not funny anymore.
True they sanitized ABC's Bugs Bunny Road Runner hour shown on Saturday mornings. (not sure if it's still on), but you can still see the un-sanitized versions on some satellite channels like the Cartoon Network. I watch them all the time with my 3 1/2 year old son.

I think most of the old Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons are shown regularly on Boomerang, as opposed to Cartoon Network now.

Oh my! Monsters must lead such in-te-res-ting lives!
They ought to know better than to screw around with something that has become part of several generations' psyche. This is going to p*** off a whole lot of people, and surpise to the sponsors, that's not conducive to selling the crap they'll be advertising.

My favorite "minor character" is the turtle who races Bugs in the turtle and hare ones. In one of the few about that, Bugs wins. The turtle says, "Yep, you beat me. You were goin' pretty darn fats there, too." Bugs says "I must have been doin' at least 100!". The turtle then points to the '35mph' speed limit sign and says to these two huge traffic cops, "OK Officers, do your duty", and they drag Bugs off to jail. The turtle then adds the killer line "Gee, ain't I a , a,a, stinker?"
I also love how all these famous REAL WB stars of the era show up in the cartoons like Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, Edward G. Robinson, and George Raft.
Even famed conductor Leopold Stokowski.("Leopold is here!!"), and pianist Liberace, ("Oh I wish my brother George was here, aha, aha."), gets impersonated by Bugs.
