My pleasure.

I'll have to see Liberty Valance. I saw Pork Chop Hill once when I was a kid, but remember virtually nothing from it. (I think, at the ned of ther battle, they find out that the war had ended, and their buddies had died in vain.) I've seen The Professionals many times, and love it.

and can tell you that Freeman is every bit as good as his press

The only thing I've seen Morgan Freeman in that he didn't shine was The Electric Company. He even looks good in bad movies.

If I ever saw The Electric Company in my childhood, I can't remember it.

I find that all but a few actors are only as good as their lines. But I've heard Freeman take platitudes and make them sound like the stuff of genius. One of the few.

If he were a politician, he'd be dangerous!

Go watch Jamie Foxx portray Ray Charles, in "Ray."

Now that's some real fine acting!!

I look forward to it.

I'm not at all ashamed to say that I have no desire to face down a gang of bad men, and drill 'em full of lead, while seeing my bride almost get killed. But I love watching Coop, who by the way also did not have gunfights with bad guys in real life, do just that in High Noon.

But everyone knows Grace Kelly was a nympho! (did I get the right movie?)....

Yet coming down to earth, one has to admit that immagination is great...And we all should enjoy it...

But it is no replacement for lving life first hand........Unless the person is a looser....N'est Pas?

Have a great day...I see you do have immagination.

I always liked James Edwards, who I saw all over the place, especially on TV, when I was growing up. Amazed to hear the story about his face being damaged and put back together by plastic surgery. Yeah, they are definitely a different breed than the spoiled brats of today, who all seem to be doing what they're doing to impress EACH OTHER with their ultimate blackness. I even heard Queen Latifah interviewed the other day (of course being led on by the lib white guiltomaniac interviewer) talk about being passed by cabdrivers in NYC when trying to get a cab. My wife turned to me, and deadpan, said "She shouldn't have been standing next to Danny Glover, then."

ROTFLMAO! I can't believe she would try that! Your wife has a wickedly dry sense of humor.

Woody Strode had the face of a man. Not a pretty boy face like Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio. A face like Charles Bronson's or Humphrey Bogart's or John Huston's that is weathered by struggle.

Did you ever see "Once Upon a Time in the West" ? At the beginning Woody Strode and Jack Elam are among three gunmen sent to wait for Charles Bronson at a train station. No dialogue. Tight facials.

John Huston====now there you mentioned my all time favorite from the Old Hollywood. And his father was my favorite actor from the REALLY Old Hollywood. Wanna see an effortlessly great, and moving performance see Walter Huston in DODSWORTH, based on Sinclair Lewis's novel, from the late 1930s. And of course his most famous one from 10 years later in his son's SIERRA MADRE. But it's DODSWORTH that continues to move me.

I've seen pictures of him when he was a young man; he was a good looking fellow. I don't think shaving his head helped him. In general, I find that a lot more black than white guys can get away with shaving their heads (I think dark skin serves as a hair substitute), but I don't think Strode looked good with a bald head.

I've heard about that opening. One long take. In the rain, right? I'll have to see it.

You have to have a strong face like Woody Strode or Yul Brenner to look good bald. I never saw Woody with hair but his features are striking bald.

In "Once Upon a Time..." the three gunmen are sent to wait for Charles Bronson. No dialogue. They pass the time wordlessly but very amusingly while they wait for the train.

The train arrives. The gunmen tense. It pulls off. Just as the gunmen get ready to leave they see Bronson playing his harmonica. The listen. He looks up.

"Did you bring a horse for me ?"

The gunmen laugh.

"Looks like we're one horse shy."

They smirk again.

"No. You brought two too many."

I just found out "James Edwards" was my Uncle. I've seen this Man in film and on Television all my life and never knew I was related. He was indeed a very fine Actor. I'm trying to find out more about his background and family in Indiana, but it's hard. My family originated in Fort Wayne Indiana, but most of them are deceased, so what little information I do have is limited. Anymore information know on Mr.Edwards outside of acting would be greatly appreciated.
