Yeah, I know. My mom is mostly the same way, just a bit more on the moderate side.

Sorta, but not quite. Stephen Williams was the teacher that was told that he couldn't pass out the Bill of Rights because it referenced God. He's suing the school system.

"Teacher or not, for some reason married women in general are going crazy."

Perhaps that is the image that the MSM wants to portray, in much the same way as they go on the attack against anyone else that represents what is good in our culture. Make a huge issue about homeschooled kids with abusive parents, particularly if they have strong religious beliefs, to prove the "evil" of homeschooling. Keep pedophile priests front and center to "prove" that the church is deserving of scorn, and so on.

Thanks for the post. I actually know a small handful of decent teachers, too.
Still, "33% of the NEA members voted for Bush" means that 67% voted for Kerry. That's pretty sick.

Nah, you don't need pepper spray, just a Bible, a copy of the Constitution, and a pro-life shirt.

They don't let a kid come through the door of a government school with things like those.
Now, a rap CD, a 'Quotations of Chairman Mao' book, and a "Protect Partial Birth Abortion" t-shirt will get you on the Honor Roll in most government schools.

Quite frankly I don't understand it. I teach teenagers, and have had my share of flirtatious students, but I must admit that I have never been tempted. Who wants a teenage girl as a lover? The age and maturity difference means that you can't have a real relationship, and the risks involved greatly outweigh any possible romantic benefits. I just don't see the reason...

To be honest, I tend to think of my female students more as my daughters than as potential romantic interests. It's one of the reasons that I'm known as the school dresscode-Nazi; I wouldn't want my own daughter to wear some of the stuff that these kids show up to school in!

The only possibility that I can see is that the teachers doing so are as immature as the students. Unfortunately, I have met a few teachers who actually teach in high school because they loved high school so much when they were that age, and they want to relive it again. They get way too involved in the students' world. I can see how those folks might do something so stupid, but I just can't see how a rational adult could...

I think that the TV show "Desperate Housewives" may be giving people the impression that married women are going crazy. I don't think that married women are any crazier than they have ever been. Uh, did that come out right?

Some of you people have obviously not visited your local public high school recently!

Any male teacher with an ounce of testosterone in his body would have to be either a Saint or gay to not be attracted to some of these sluts that throw themselves at their male teachers.

It seems public school teachers are getting a name for themselves much as the Catholic priest have gotten. Is there something in the institution of public schools that is leading so many teachers to run a astray of their good senses.

Surely with all these incidents it is time to implement mandatory sensitivity training and counseling for teachers. Perhaps it might even be time that students be forewarned about teachers much the same way as children are instructed to be wary of strangers and inappropriate touching

Teachers who do this are despicable, whether they are men or women. Lock them away AND neuter them.

That is all well and good for the ones that have been caught. But with some many incidents, there ought to be measures taken to protect school children from teachers so no more fall victim.

Something must be done not only to punish but to stop this as well.

What in the world is going on in PUBLIC SCHOOL these days?! I wonder if "teaching" sex education has anything to do with it? Do these so-called teachers think they can abuse these kids and get by with it?!!!

I am a teacher, pro-life, and a Bible-believing Christian. There are many of us who are conservative and disgusted by the way these people and the NEA makes us look.

I sympathize with you. Perhaps, however, it is time for the good teachers to start doing something about the bad ones, and the predators among your ranks.

You more than anyone else has the power to correct this. From the tone of the posts in this thread, it seems it is not long before someone is going to start asking questions about what the heck is going on. And they won't be asking it just of the ones that are bad.

There are some very bad apples. And it is not just one or two. It is darn near the entire bushel.

Something must be done to stop this. Children's lives are at stake. Will you continue to post here that "it is not me, it is not all of us." Or come Monday morning will you take action to correct these dispicable activities.

In other words, how do you feel about the Catholic priest that knew what other priest were doing but did nothing about it?

Well, if he were female and the students were male he could go on Larry King and talk about how romantic the whole situation is.

Mr. Brett Bartlett, Choir Director

Mr. Bartlett is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he earned music degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education. This is Mr. Bartlett's second year of teaching. Under his direction, Homestead's vocal music department has grown from 34 students last year to over 100 allowing the school to now offer an advanced choir dubbed "Lyrica", a treble choir and a concert choir. Mr. Bartlett has been diligently studying instrumental techniques and conducting methods, in addition to attending music educator conferences, in order to continue to challenge and improve Homestead's music students.

Geez, ANOTHER one. These folks are popping out of the woodwork.

It could be that what the MSM used to keep as a local stories are now getting much wider coverage because of the internet.

Brett Bartlett, 25, was arrested on Tuesday around 9:20 a.m. at Homestead High School, where he worked as a band and choir teacher.

Baker said he has been charged with one count of statutory rape in connection with a relationship he had with a 16-year-old student between September 2004 and Feb. 5., 2005.

A friend of the alleged victim became concerned over the matter and reported it to a school employee.

An investigation revealed that Bartlett also had a relationship with a 15-year-old student sometime in August 2004, according to Baker.

He has been charged with one count of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a minor 15 years of age in connection with that relationship.

Bartlett, who lives in Campbell, worked at the school for three years, Baker said.

He faces a maximum sentence of three years and eight months in state prison if convicted.

Baker said Bartlett's bail was set at $30,000 and he will next appear on Monday for identification of counsel.
