University of Colorado had a scandal whereby the sports coaches were providing sex and booze to young people they wanted to recruit to their programs.
They've had several drinking deaths, unsurprising since the school has a reputation for being a party school.
And now this.
I cannot imagine a parent choosing a place such as this to entrust their child.

He should kiss that University President's tuckus every day that he even has a job. There's probably very little the university president can do. If Churchill is (was) a department chair, he's almost certainly tenured, meaning that he could bring that AK-47 he posed with in that photo on his website into his classroom, gun down all the students, and still keep his job.

Three thousand people chosen by Fate met their deaths on September 11th, 2001. Three of them were Hamilton alumni. A fourth was the father of a current student.
It takes incredible intellectual arrogance to call all of them "little Eichmanns".
Absolutely. And even more to invite this lowlife and his wife (an activist of similar leanings) to present their hate-the-hand-that-feeds-you venom at Hamilton.

the college was committed to his right of free speech As long as he didn't say anything critical of Islam or homosexuals.

"He taught ethics?"
University offerings in the catalog that would seem of a traditional, positive sort are in reality generally a twisted parody (English Literature, American History) - so it's a given that a course on Ethics would generally be instructed by cretins and other assorted riff-raff that never had any ethics and don't believe they actually exist.

"By not firing him outright (or at least demoting him to "perpetual sabbatical"), the university is agreeing with his tripe. There's no other way to look at it."
I am assuming that this peckerwood is protected by tenure. The university would have a hard time firing him if he was convicted of almost any felony.
The concept of tenure was put in place to protect the right of free speech for professor's who might say something in dissent of any given issue. It is a broad based and very powerful system, and guys like Churchill know it. That's why they're not afraid to make statements as asinine as the statement Churchill made.
What's the solution? Damned if I know. Someone suggested tar and feathers, rotten apples, etc. My own personal method would be to make sure that my child is not enrolled in any of his classes. If no students showed up for Churchill's lectures, he would have a hard time "learning" anyone anything.

Seppuku is the Japanese term also known as Hara Kiri. It's ritual suicide. The "honoree" takes the short sword (Wakisashi) and makes two cuts, across his lower stomach, then up to the sternum from the centerline. He may then be assisted by a second, who decapitates him with the long sword (Katana). Prior to the suicide, a death poem is usually read. They did a pretty good job showing it in "Shogun" when Kasegi Yabu offed himself at Toranaga's order.

Does this mean he'll be getting his pay cut? I doubt it. Plus does he even have a PhD, you usually need one to be a department chairman.

Alumni should stop writing checks to Hamilton College and the students should transfer to a school that has some shred of decency.

The basic problem is not this jackass. It is the completely intellectually and morally bankrupt administration that enables this psychopath.

"It is the completely intellectually and morally bankrupt administration that enables this psychopath." Agree. What on Earth can this Sociopath have to teach anyone and what rationale does the College use to justify his continued presence other than the morally bankrupt 'Diversity of Views' argument?
His message is not only incoherent it appeals to the lowest regions of the Human Condition - Something I would think any serious Educator would do their best to keep out of the classroom, not exalt it with pay and a Chairmanship of a department. What next, Charles Manson teaching Modern American Mind(less) Control?
