Go to the Eagles website - it is full of videos and animation of victory dances (the Eagles could always fall back on chorus line work)

LOL! -- The June Taylor Dancers or The Rockettes ;-)

After they lose to the Pats they can come back up north to Philly, have a special day for the team, have them all go out on the field, and let them dance their way out of the line of thousands of snowballs being thrown at them instead of Santa!

;-)

Sorry Librarian4Bush ;-) mooooo

including links to buy their AFC champs gear and a link to by the 2 DVD set on their 21 game win streak. Seems to be plenty of celebration.

that's commerce

we're talking about a coaching decision based on the most likely chance of success.

Right! Even insiders around the team have come forward this past week to say the call was a poor one. It is almost unanimous around the Steeler house and with the intelligent guys in the media.

Suffice it to say that most are afraid to offend the team with public utterances (they may lose their access), but away from the keyboards and microphones, at the local saloons over a few beers, the truth is spoken. I know a couple of the players and some of my friends know many, many more. They wanted to go for it. The momentum died right there on the two yard line.

A TD right there made it a 7 point game with the Steelers having all the MO and nearly a whole quarter to go.

Not to say, L4B, that the Steelers would have won. The subject here is ONLY the f***ed up, gutless call by Cowher/Schottennheimer. I like Bill, he's a pretty darn good motivator, but he blew that one, and most people close to the game and the Steelers know it! This is getting to be a way too common thing on Cowher's part. Let the players win or lose the game. The more I think of it as a player, it pisses me off for the players and for all their efforts since at least last July!

Eagles late season let down year after year after year

what are you TALKING about?

take last season for example:

Week 7 Oct 19 W 14-10 at New York Jets
Week 8 Oct 26 W 24-17 vs New York Jets
Week 9 Nov 2 W 23-16 at Atlanta Falcons
Week 10 Nov 10 W 17-14 at Green Bay Packers
Week 11 Nov 16 W 28-10 vs New York Giants
Week 12 Nov 23 W 33-20 vs New Orleans Saints
Week 13 Nov 30 W 25-16 at Carolina Panthers
Week 14 Dec 7 W 36-10 vs Dallas Cowboys
Week 15 Dec 15 W 34-27 at Miami Dolphins
Week 16 Dec 21 L 31-28 vs San Francisco 49ers (OT)
Week 17 Dec 27 W 31-7 at Washington Redskins

man, look at that letdown! one loss in two months. even in reid's FIRST SEASON, they won their last 2 after a 3-11 start.

losing 7 of 10 like the Vikings is a "late season let down". losing a playoff game is not a "late season let down". you have NO idea what you're talking about. go find something else to do.

Right now I am rubbing your nose in your misstatement.

right now you're being a jackass. victory was implied, you know, seeing as how you explicitly asserted it immediately prior.

but that's okay, keep attention on your screw up. it's not as if you have any credibility to lose.

We're not talking about can or can't.

actually you were. but thanks for playing. god forbid your coach tries to keep you in the game as long as possible. it's the same damn reason you don't go for two until you NEED it. sometimes I wish some of you people actually DID coach your favorite teams - it would be easier for the teams I like to beat them. then again, if you were on that sideline, you wouldn't be as daring as you are a week later on the internet.

nobody that will actually be on the field on the 6th was involved in that

I feel bad for the guys working on video montages that will or won't get played on local news stations all over the northeast, depending on the result. ;)

hey mister, you've got until 5pm today to return that "football for dummies" book, or someone will have a date with a ten cent fine!

This makes my point that the Eagles are a collection of superb athletes but the Patriots are a TEAM.

the Rams defense in 2001 was a collection of superb athletes, and it sucked. you don't win two playoff games by a total of 54-24 by not playing team defense.

A TD right there made it a 7 point game

if only that TD was as certain then as it is now...

I doubt God is a big fan of the corrupt political machine that runs Philly.

speaking of which, words cannot express how annoyed I am by John Street's transparent attempt to get on the bandwagon.

IT WAS. I have followed you two on this from the beginning. Take it from a still bummed Steeler fan, you (LVD) meant that St. Louis had won 2 Super Bowls. Lighten up and admit it.

At least you guys have a team to root for in this one. Now me, I'll be sitting here throwing darts at a picture of Hillary (The Queen of Darkness) on the wall as the game approaches.

;-)

Thought you might like to see this current hubbub.

Saturday, January 29, 2005 -- By The Associated Press

Freddie Mitchell's big mouth struck again.

The Philadelphia Eagles' other loquacious receiver -- the one without the Pro Bowl pedigree and ankle injury -- offended some Patriots when he dissed their secondary in a television interview.

Mitchell, a starter only because All-Pro Terrell Owens is hurt, said he just knew the numbers -- not the names -- of New England's cornerbacks. He singled out Rodney Harrison, saying he "has something" for the veteran strong safety.

"It just shows he doesn't have respect for us," Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel said yesterday, responding to Mitchell's comments from a day earlier.

The Patriots' defensive backs will see Mitchell up close when the defending champions meet the Eagles in the Super Bowl Feb. 6. "You have so many young guys nowadays, so many young guys that don't have respect for the game," Harrison said. "Some people are just immature. Some people really haven't experienced certain things."

The Patriots have a patchwork secondary that includes a rookie free agent (Randall Gay), a converted wide receiver (Troy Brown) and a guy (Hank Poteat) who was taking college courses before the playoffs started. Starters Tyrone Poole and Ty Law have been out with injuries most of the season, but the fill-ins shut down Peyton Manning and the rest of the Colts in a second-round playoff game, and intercepted the Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger three times in the AFC championship game.

"Freddie Mitchell is a guy who is getting time now because Terrell is hurt," Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest said. "We don't worry about what he's saying. He will have to deal with that on the field. All I can say is, Rodney Harrison is the wrong guy to mention, especially if you're a receiver."

Mitchell's response to the Patriots' reaction? "I was joking. I don't care. It'll all be solved on Sunday," he said.

A first-round pick in 2001, Mitchell hasn't lived up to his potential in four seasons with the Eagles. He had five catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns, including one on a fumble recovery, in Philadelphia's second-round playoff win against Minnesota. But he caught just two passes for 20 yards in the NFC championship game against Atlanta.

*****

I saw this guy interviewed before last week's game. He is one entertaining fellow. I see him in show business or the the media after his playing days. He's very funny.

well, obviously, we're hearing a lot about this around here, but I do appreciate the ping to the article.

freddie IS hilarious. awful nice guy, too. while he has been something of a disappointment, I think part of that is a consequence of how the WR depth chart has evolved over Reid's time here. and he'll always have 4th-and-26. those who claim it's not as big because they didn't win the SB obviously have never heard of the immaculate reception. (sorry for the tangent, was saving LVD another embarassing conversation there)

anyway, about 15 months ago, he (FredEx) picked a fight with one of my favorite radio personalities (steve fredericks, 610 wip AM, since retired), and fell out of favor with me for doing so. but, believe it or not, his on-field antics have DECREASED since his elevation to a starting role - he's handled it well. all he ever asked for was a chance to prove himself, and I think he's done so (I think 4 TDs in 5 games since Owens was hurt?)

in any event, anyone who thinks this will have any effect on the game is either deluding themselves or worrying too much.

what concerns ME is that Freddie may be the odd man out around here, with Owens/Pinkston/Lewis signed long term. I'd like to see Billy McMullen get on the field a bit more.

I _do_ find it interesting that with the exception of Owens (who hasn't even played in the playoffs yet), there isn't a single high-profile WR on either superbowl team. his immediate productivity seems to be the exception to the rule for free-agent WR acquisitions.

incidentally, any interest on that charity wager I offered regarding him?

(sorry for the long answer to a short ping, sitting on hold with the damn cable company)

About Owens playing (time)?

Nah. I have no dog in that fight. I don't much care if he does or doesn't, and I'm not nearly as close to the Philly sports news as you. I see the Patriots testing him at the line of scrimmage to see if that foot is really healed. We'll see.

But, next year, if you ever need some inside dope (oops, can't use that these days) on the Steeler personnel, let me know. I'm somewhat close to the team.

By the way, I'm thinking this thread will go on through the Super Bowl. Good!

Good luck with your team. Here's hoping it's a great game, and that the ultimate victor wins because of excellent play, not some fluke bounces or referee's calls. Better that the BEST team win. It should be great. Philly has a chance because of all that great soup Ms. McNabb is feeding those guys!

(Cable guy get it done?)

You have absolutely, positively, undeniably NO CLUE what your talking about. You make assertions that are untrue and arguments that have no basis in fact.

The momentum died right there on the two yard line.

Indeed. The most telling thing when this happened is that the whole stadium went silent. 80,000 screaming, raving fans went mute. The only noise left was probably from the Patriots fans that couldn't believe they had just wrapped up the AFC championship.
