YES! My first concert was Twisted Sister opening for Iron Maiden.
Does this mean I have to confess that I saw New Kids on the Block at Poplar Creek in 1992? I don't think it does.
Aside from Smashing Pumpkins, and a little Avril, the rest of that stuff is the reason I went back to classic rock. It's an age thing. People who grew up in a particular time identify with the music that was popular then. For me, and BigB, that's the 70s and 80s. For you, it's the 90s and now. Nothing wrong with that, but it's no reason to mock others choices simply because it's not your cup of tea. I was reacting to that as much as anything.
As for me, I can't stand modern pop or rock, as it's just not my style. Also there's a very bad trend of songwriters producing songs for both pop and country that end up sucking on both ends for the most part. But if you enjoy it, go for it.
BTW: "Bee's knees"... You never heard that expression?! Then take a hike, tike! ;^)
PS Best album of the past two decades or so: "Purple Rain" by Prince.
Wilson Phillips opened for him.
You can't stop me. Don't even try. :^)
Good, but a little too formulaic for me, kinda like REO Speedwagon.
Back when I listened to that EEEEEEVVVVVVVIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLL Popular Music I liked everything from Van Halen to Barry Manilow. I had phases where Styx, Supertramp, Rick Wakeman, Renaissance, and Chuck Mangione were the ones I was collecting.
I *really* don't hear anything current I like. Most of the men are just whiny and the women - well, Pat Benetar and Ann and Nancy Wilson made a good run at being rockers but they just don't seem to get it somehow.
"Sweet Home Alabama" and "Bang The Drum" can still get my car dancing every time they play.
And if anyone wonders what ever happened to John Schlitt of Head East fame, he is singing Christian Rock with Petra (or was last time I checked).
Shalom.
No, I'd never confess that. :^)
How about the AC/DC and Fog Hat tour?
I wanted to be WITH Belinda Carlisle. She's a honey.
NOOOOO. Hold up. Let's TALK about this, shall we? SOOOO, B, let's hear ALL about your love, lust and all around SECRET pining away for Debbie Gibson.... Heh heh.
My first concert was the BeeGee's
Pre-disco!!
(Confession is good for the soul)
And guys, those ladies in the pictures, hate to tell you this, but they're probably not real. Sorry to destory your illusions.
=8-0
I am a Petra Fan. Very good rock!
I don't know about that one, but you knew it was Spring at Cornell when "Long Train Runnin'" by the Doobie Brothers started blasting across the quad.
Shalom.
I saw Debbie Gibson too...festival seating, got there early and was up front.
Wow, I guess my musical taste is pretty much all over the map.
Twisted Sister to Iron Maiden to Debbie Gibson- yes, I wouls say all over the map! LOL!!
Never saw AC/DC to my shame. I have a number of their albums though and just love the way Angus plays guitar. I guess they are still touring though, so I'll have to make an effort.
Wish I had seen Stevie Ray too.
Skid Marx...
Well, we Children of the eighties are very musically diverse. As long as no one mentions DeBarge...
Oh and I had early Run DMC and Beastie Boys too. And now I listen to music from Latin America, gospel, bluegrass, classical, opera, techno...no gangsta rap though.
